Abbey House Hotel Reading

Overall we had excellent service there, the room was clean, and the Bathroom excellent!The only reason I didn’t give it a Five was, the Lighting near the Stairs was an Issue: we had to go Halfway down the stairs B4 the lights came on, and I was with someone with Mobility Problems, so I had to Shine my Torch so that he could get down Safely.But the Staff were excellent, one night, our Key cards wouldn’t work to let us back in the room, and a member of staff got up to let us back in. I would return again.

After travelling from Heathrow and staying in one of the major hotels,...the welcome I received from Arshad was so warm and genuine and made a lovely change. No complaints about my room, it was clean and had pretty much everything I needed. The shower was a tiny bit small but had good water pressure. Maybe a small corner table would be great as there wasn't anywhere to put any toiletries and when your travelling a lot, you carry a lot of toiletries.The food ....WOW !! The lovely Marta certainly knows how to fill you up with her amazing cooking and such a lovely host.There wasn't much in the way of bar selection but had a decent bottle of red which was fine with me.I would have no issues in staying here again and again and would recommend it by a country mile over the bigger named hotels.

First off, the staff, they were very kind and always willing to help. My first night there I came really late and the guy on the night shift waited and was kind enough to assist me with all I needed, even though his shift had ended.The room was also really clean and tidy. I loved my entire stay.

Our stay was great! Me and my friend visited the UK for a week. The room was big, we had separate beds, a table and a wardrobe, a hairdryer and a kettle, the heater was working and we had our own bathroom! Also the room and the hotel itself was very clean. Our toilet was broken at some time, like the water was running non stop but as soon as we told staff they immediately took care of it! Staff was very nice and helpful, they recommended a lot of places to visit and to eat! Overall, really good place to stay for a reasonable price!Only flaw would be the distance to reading station (you could also go to the Reading West Station, just be mindful that there obviously are less trains to specific places you might want to go to). If you don't wanna spend too much on transportation costs like us it would take you about 30-40min by foot. Supermarkets or smaller markets for daily necessities are also close by. But if you don't mind to walk that much, it really is a good place to stay!

A nice quaint hotel, I was greeted at the door, check-in was easy. I had a room at the back of the property which was quiet, it had the usual tea/coffee facilities. The bed was soft which is not what I'm used to but managed to sleep perfectly. The bathroom was clean, had a bath, shower, sink and toilet, what else do you really need.The room was clean, maybe a little dated, but I was staying for business so a bed and somewhere to clean up is just what I needed.It is located close to a bustling street with lots of restaurants where I got some dinner (a nice Indian for one).The owner told me about the area and where to find everything, which was most helpful as I'm not from the area.Check-out was just as easy as check-in.My car was parked out the front, there were many parking spaces at the front and back of the property which is perfect.I chose this place as it was close to where I was working, if I go back to the area, I will choose this place again.(The picture was after I had stayed and I re-made the bed)

This place might not be most modern or extremaly luxurious but it certainly deserves five stars! For attention to each and every detail to make your stay relaxing. For exceptional cleanliness. For the breakfast room so tastefully arranged. For the bed sheets snow white and crispy and the bedding feeling so royal". For this special romantic touch that makes this place beautiful. And most of all for the stuff who treat you like the highest priority guest from the moment of your booking call till the check out. Owners - keep up the good work

The reception staff was very helpful and welcoming.I forgot to his name but he is an amazing person.The room was neat and bathroom was clean.The room was noise free.There is a bit of congestion getting into Connaught road.

This is not a hotel, just an average guest house. They don’t change the bedsheets or clean your room even if you stayed for a week. So no service at all.It has no restaurant. You have to walk about 30 minutes to the town center to find something to eat.Having said that, I found the place clean and the staff were friendly, especially Abdul, who was very kind. But the building and the rooms are outdated and in need of a major overhaul, especially bathrooms.I won’t stay again here.

The Abbey House Hotel in Reading is by far the worst hotel I have ever come across. If you read through my reviews I have stayed in many hotels and hostels across the world. This hotel in particular is by far the worst. There was never anyone at the reception to help out and when there was the man who worked there made me and my wife feel very uncomfortable. He was talking about drugs and the wolf whistling was disgusting. I asked him to cancel my room on the spot and give me my money back he then refused and asked me to call the police on him. I did so they turnt up and asked him to refund me. He said he had done so but here I am 13 days later and he still had my 380 pound for 3 nights. I've taken it further and luckily the small claims court thought different and my refund is on its way. If I can say one thing about this place it would be steer clear and go elsewhere the local park bench might be a better option and probably has better company

A good location near the city centre. The place was decent and clean. Arshad, the guy from the reception was so friendly, welcomed us warmly and recommended a lot of places to go and eat.
