Balmoral Hotel
Review is of the bar and beer garden.It's a pub. A friendly pub with plenty of space inside and in the beer garden to the rear.Tasty beer at a very reasonable price served by friendly staff. I didn't have any complaints.The kind of bar you could happily visit again and again to relax and have a quiet pint.It's the kind of pub that disappearing as more and more wetherspoon type places stake over.

Balmoral Hotel
I visited in February. We booked 2 cottages for my Sister's birthday. The staff are so friendly. I came back with mate to play golf in the surrounding areas of Moffat. Same high standards. Love this place.

We arrived at the Balmoral for lunch cold, wet and feeling a bit miserable and we couldn't have had a warmer welcome. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to look after us. There were a good range of food choices and all of the meals were delicious. Highly recommended.

It was my parent's fifth visit and I can understand why! It is a modernised coaching hotel, originally built in the 1790s (or thereabouts). The main building is full of staircases, with the rooms on different levels in different annexes. There are rooms at the back, which I'm guessing used to be the old stables etc.The room facilities are modern but the decor is a little dated (my preferences). The rooms are clean, tidy and well presented. Tea/coffee/biscuits are good quality.And now the icing on the cake. The food AND the staff.Firstly the staff - EXCELLENT! Everyone was very friendly, hospitable, and efficient. It was as if they had been friends forever and this passed through to the guests and customers.And now the food. For dinner, I chose the haggis, neeps and tatties. When it arrived, I was a little underwhelmed by the presentation. And then I tasted it! FAB-U-LUS! I swapped the Drambuie sauce for gravy, which was proper gravy! Made from meat juices!! For dessert, I went for the sticky toffee pudding with custard. A-MAY-ZING! The custard was made with milk not water, which gets a huge tick from me.The culinary delight continued in to breakfast, which was included in the room rate. I chose the porridge.....made with milk, not water. The best porridge I've ever had. The full breakfast which followed was freshly cooked, tasty and very enjoyable.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and enjoyed doing this review.Well done, Team Balmoral! You have done a great job.

Balmoral Hotel
Called in for fish, chips and peas. Very nice, better than the local chippy. The fish was particularly good, thick freshly battered haddock. The only thing that could have been better was for the chips to have been made from fresh potatoes instead of frozen, but they were well cooked and I liked them anyway.Washed down with a super pint of belhaven best.

I recently spent a week at this hotel and i was so happy with my stay there. The room cleaning service was excellent and the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. The food at the hotel and the service were great too.

Excellent stay. Although quite old and tired the rooms were very spacious, having a seating area with 3 seater sofa, fridge too with fresh milk, bottles of water and coke, massive shower room with all the toiletries supplied and everything was really clean. Bed was firm but that's how I like them. Windows opened too, unlike a well known chain.Food in the pub was very good, served by friendly staff, breakfast was delicious also.Great value. Book direct for best prices.Would recommend.
