I found Home Instead when another agency we were using for my parents couldn’t supply reliable care at the weekends.Everyone at Home Instead treated my parents with dignity and care. The office staff and the carers showed initiative flexibility and humour.The experience gave my parents over 2 more years together in their beloved home. And it gave my sister and I the space to be their daughter’s not their carers.

I started my career in care working for Home Instead, after being made redundant from my customer services role I wanted to look into care as i'd always wanted to do it. Home instead where the only company at the time taking on inexperienced carers and willing to train new staff up.I was at Home instead for a short while and I was offered the opportunity to gain qualifications. The training itself is very thorough, now working within social services I can see how well Home instead is run, I always use Home instead as bench mark, it baffles me when carers I deal with from different organisations are late for calls or they miss calls completely, I know from the carers I worked with at Home Instead it would be rare that call times where not adhered to. One of the best things I ever done there was palliative care. It is a honor to do palliative care for anyone and to be there for a person in their last hours or days.The staff in the office always made sure I had plenty of work, the owners at the time Ginette & Mike and the manager Marie where great to work for. I didn't work with the new owners much but they are doing great with the business and making it a well known name in Ruislip.i'd hand on heart recommend anyone who is looking to get into care for the first time to do it with Home Instead, it opens the door for so many opportunities within Health & Social care. I work for home instead and have done so for nearly nine years its a great place to work always supported great management and the whole package goes toward providing excellent care to people who need it not only clients but family members to . I was one of their customers and was very disappointed by the management of this company. In their approach they target the families of the client rather than the client themselves. They are very expensive for the kind of service they offer, they are totally inflexible regarding changes (you need to tell them one week in advance), they are just a middle of the range agency dressed in glossy brochure, smooth talk and website. The carers were nice but I could not get them to commit to an individual carer coming to help me everyday.I cannot tell the experience of other clients but, as severely disabled person working full time and active, I found the attitude of the management very unhelpful. It seemed to me that their priority is to maximise their profits rather than accommodate the needs of the clients.They were the first agency I used so I thought that their model was normal. However, when I started to shop around I realised that you can get a much better service, a much more flexible and accommodating structure with extremely professional and kind carers and at a much more reasonable hourly rate. My current agency is much better organised, very friendly, without all the nonsense about a week in advance cancellation and I have a single, exceptionally skilled carer helping me.My suggestion to potential clients is that you shop around before signing with this agency.
