Hockwold Hall

My husband and I had our wedding here in August. Richard and Anna were really fantastic running things on the day, as were their tied-in suppliers Julia (of My Fleur decor/design) and Holly at Shefs catering. We had some odd requests and they rolled with every single one of them as if it was nothing. Rooms were beautiful, the marquee is great and the grounds are stunning without being overly prim/hotel-like. Super flexible and super wonderful. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you so much to Richard and the Hockwold team!

Went to a friend's wedding here, the hall was so beautiful and the grounds were lovely and peaceful. The bride was kind enough to show us her suite and it was gorgeous! Just right with a huge bath and beautiful views of the grounds. The staff were all busy and rubbing around and always smiling which was nice to see.

We got married here last July and couldn't of chosen a better venue. The house and and gardens are beautiful. Richard was brilliant and very accommodating when some things didn't quite go to plan. We knew as soon as we viewed the venue it had to be there, and had an awesome day (apart from 40 plus degree heat). Everyone we spoke to commented on how beautiful the venue was. Being able to have the wedding ceremony outside, under the pergola was amazing exactly what we wanted. Would highly recommend Hockwold Hall, thank you.Rob and Becky

I will start with the positives.Hockwold Hall is absolutely stunning as a wedding venue, we were lucky with the weather and had a beautiful outside ceremony. Our amazing suppliers helped decorate the marquee and went above and beyond to get the venue looking perfect. (not My Fleur!!! but thats another story).We also used St Peters cottage for the night before with the girls, getting ready and then on the wedding night itself (while our guests had the rooms in the hall) and this worked really well and was a lovely little cottage. Our guests found all the rooms to be clean and comfortable in the hall.Shefs the caterer are fantastic! They created an amazing bespoke menu for us, we had so many compliments over the food and they couldnt do enough for us. We also had a lovely menu tasting with them in Brandon and found that they really cared about all the little details.I found the team at Hockwold to be disappointing throughout the lead up to the wedding and on the day. Their correspondence is rude and wholly unhelpful, they make changes to the venue without telling you, there are hidden extras (like turning lights on for £400!) that they lead you to believe are included, they put the drinks prices up between booking and the day itself and honestly they just do not care about you as a couple or your wedding day. On the morning of the wedding, as the bride I had the awkwardness of speaking with the wedding family from the day before to get access at 8am as promised for set up (luckily they were so nice!) and there wasnt a single member of staff available to help with anything onsite until 11.30am! This made the set up extremely stressful. I had to call the owner to get extra tables as the room wasnt set how we had requested! We had one details meeting (which is really poor service for a wedding venue) which is only 4 weeks before! When we arrived for this, the coordinator complained about her busy day and the fact we had a 6pm appointment that she had booked for us. It felt rushed and she clearly just wanted to go home. She told us we were the 4th wedding that week and they would all be shattered by the time our day came around - all these little comments made us feel like an imposition quite honestly. Not what you expect after spending over £7k on the venue and their ‘coordination’.A couple of weeks before the wedding we were told our table plan wouldnt work, we chose to stick with it as everything was finalised and it worked fine - a panic over nothing. They dont embrace you wanting to do anything different or make the day your own and anything like that felt like a fight for what we wanted.Their linen doesnt touch the floor and just does not look right and so we spent £100s rectifying this by hiring our own. They offered no help with this or options to upgrade the linen which was disappointing considering linen costs are included in the venue hire.Oh and the beer pumps failed on the day at the bar meaning everyone had to drink spirits.Whilst on honeymoon, we then then received chases for invoices that we had already settled!Despite the limited input from the venue, we had a wonderful day due to the suppliers we chose and our hard working wedding party. The team simply do not care, offer zero support and you really are just another day to them. There were so many things that werent quite right and i feel that more support/planning from the venue would have rectified this. Wanted to share this review as the venue is stunning and we had a wonderful wedding but unfortunately the venue offers very minimal coordination, the correspondance at every turn left a negative impression and support was minimal. We may as-well have booked a DIY barn. We felt like they wanted to take all the money they can from you (including trying to charge you twice) but want to give you the bare minimum themselves, leaving external suppliers like Shefs and those you have hired to help you. I hope this honest review helps others.

We had our wedding here on the 27th May. Hockwold Hall is a stunning venue, the gardens are beautiful.All of the staff our friendly and helpful. Richard the owner is so friendly and made us welcome. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone. We will be back to stay very soon.

i would just like to say a massive thank you to Allison, she made us feel so comfortable when showing us around the venue, any questions she was on the other side of the phone waiting to answer them. Alison was very professional, i would definitely recommend having a look at this venue if you are planning on getting married soon :)

I had the pleasure of photographing my client’s wedding here in April! The staff was so kind and lovely, the grounds are absolutely stunning and the photos turned out so good because of it! Hopefully I will get to work here again in the future!

WOW! We had our wedding here in April and we could not have picked a more perfect place. We managed to have nice weather and got to have our ceremony outside which was breathtaking. Every single guest I spoke to said that this was the most amazing venue they’d ever attended for a wedding. All of the staff were so attentive and made sure we were enjoying ourselves and went above and beyond to ensure our day went smoothly. The bridal suite where I got ready in the morning was so sweet and as soon as me and my bridal party walked in and saw it just set the precedent for the day. Outside grounds were just beautiful and the marquee was decorated so well it could not have been any better. I can’t thank Richard and the team enough for making our day everything we thought it would be and more.
