When mum passed away we were so fortunate to be given the recommendation by the ambulance crew of William Mitchell Funeral Directors to collect her body. Alf and Donna immediately put us at our ease and explained everything very clearly. During our discussions of the funeral arrangements, with Donna, Alf and Lily were in the other office contacting suitable venues for the wake. It was all very impressive. The funeral went extremely smoothly. The civil celebrant that Donna had recommended, Tony West, was very professional, empathetic and caring. We have no hesitation in highly recommending Donna and the team. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We thought their prices were very reasonable too.

My mom had cancer so we knew that unfortunately we was going to lose her, my husband rang a few funeral directors in the weeks proceeding my moms death, he knew immediately after speaking to Alf that this was the company to use.When my mom passed away at the hospice because it was a Sunday she couldn’t be taken straight to the funeral directors. But on Monday as soon as they got the go ahead Alf assured me he would be bringing mom back.I went in the following day to speak to Donna and start making arrangements. Donna, Alf and Lilly have all been so kind and caring. Donna got my mom ready and did her hair and makeup so I could see her in the chapel of rest, even made me a cup of tea and made sure I was comfortable and told me to take as long as I wanted.My mom left really good instructions on what she wanted and Donna helped me to arrange everything and guide me. The order of service was beautiful and Lilly was very patient and kept sending the proof through and made any amendments I wanted before it went to print.On the day they were reassuring and explained everything and were professional and caring throughout. Donna walked in front of the hearse and bowed and was utterly respectful on my moms final journey and it was the service we wanted for mom.I would have no hesitation in recommending Donna and her team. We really didn't know where to start with organising a funeral when my mum passed away, by chance we went to speak to William Mitchell Funerals as they are local to us, Alf originally then Donna. They immediately put us at our ease and explained everything very clearly. The situation was made more difficult as we had an important family holiday planned, which Donna said we should continue with as there is always a wait for the crematorium, she explained every step of the process very clearly and was happy to work with us even though there was a delay in obtaining the death certificate. The day went extremely smoothly, Donna had arranged a civil celebrant, Tony West who was very professional, empathetic and caring. We can highly recommend Donna and the team, they are very respectful, we thought their prices were very reasonable, yet they don't try to upsell you anything and they treat you as a person not just a number.

Something I never thought I would have to review, well not just yet. But when we lost our wonderful mom on the 15th September we were plunged into arranging her funeral. From the first phone call, to meeting Donna and the team at William Mitchell they were amazing, guiding us through this process. Donna has such compassion, she looked after mom in her final days, and us on the day, ensuring mom had the best send off. Thank you will never be enough.

We would like to say a big thank you to Donna, Lily, Alf and all the team who provided a first-class service for our mom’s funeral.My sister phoned 5 funeral directors a few months before she passed, so we could plan ahead and get a rough idea in regard to cost and what was involved as we had never done this before. The first 4 were more interested in what we had to spend but when she phoned Donna up, the first thing she asked was “how is your mom and how are you”, so she arranged an appointment to see her.We met with Donna, and she was so compassionate and straight away we both knew this is who we wanted to conduct our mom’s funeral. She explained everything to us and answered all our concerns, nothing was too much for Donna and she kept us up to date with all the proceedings.When mom died she was collected by Alf within a few hours and taken to William Mitchells.The original priest we wanted had suffered a stroke and Donna suggested another priest. We met with Father. Craig and he was the one we went with, thanks to Donna.Donna arranged for us to see mom, a week later in the chapel of rest at William Mitchells and they had laid her out with a new dress and new jewellery, which we provided. She looked so at peace. A big thank you to Lily who did this and applied the make-up and did her hair.Donna arranged the order of service and mass cards and sent proofs before being printed.On the day of the funeral, Donna and her team turned up and we were a bit stressful, but she had a chat and put us at ease. The hearse had all moms’ flowers and it looked amazing. Whenever we proceeded down the road, into the church carpark and out, and at the cemetery, Donna would get out and bow to the coffin and then walk in front of the procession of vehicles. Its these small details that Donna provides, and we found it so respectful to mom.At the church and the burial, Donna explained where to stand and what to do. This really helped when your emotional and stressed.The day of the funeral ran so smoothly thanks to Donna and her team. It gave us time to concentrate on saying goodbye to mom.We would describe William Mitchell as professional, compassionate, respectful, caring, attentive to detail.We would highly recommend them.Thank you Donna XXCaroline and Michael Boland

Having lost my Mom on 16th June 2023 I cannot praise Donna, Alf and the Team enough for their support and kindness during this very difficult time for us as a family.Although Mom had spent 90 years of her life living in the Aldridge area, she had moved away in March 2020 to live with my husband and myself in Herefordshire. Latterly being in very poor physical health she moved into a lovely care home near us. Following Mom’s death, being out of area, this made practical arrangements ahead of the funeral a little tricky. However, nothing phased the William Mitchell Team.We had selected William Mitchell back in 2018 to take care of my Dad’s funeral. The service provided back then was excellent and we immediately knew that we wanted Donna and Alf to do the same for Mom. They did not disappoint. They were very kind, professional and supportive throughout the whole process. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Luckily we'd never had to think about planning a funeral until we lost our baby boy at the end of May. We were lost and didn't know where to start, but after speaking to Alf on the phone, and then going in to see Donna we knew we wouldn't have wanted anybody else looking after him. Every step of the way Donna, Alf and Lily were professional, respectful, attentive and most of all caring towards us and made sure everything was right from start to finish. We can't thank them enough for the support, guidance and for going the extra mile to care for our son during what has been a really difficult time for our family.
