St John's Church, Ranmoor

What a beautiful church in a stunning location.The atmosphere is definitely welcoming.

Wonderful worship music and architecture

It's a beautiful church. The original church, designed by E. M. Gibbs was opened in 1879. After being partially destroyed by fire, it was reopened in 1888.

Beautiful church. Very imposing and in a lovely area. The original EM Gibbs building was destroyed by fire! It was rebuilt and is a wonderful building in a beautiful setting in leafy Ranmoor. On warm summer evenings we can hear the bell ringing practice and this intermingles with the sounds from Endcliffe Park for a very British atmosphere.

The building itself is beautiful, but the dedicated staff and volunteers that make the atmosphere, really deserve recognition. The music was beautifully directed, making a fantastic Christmas service that they should be greatly proud of. The church was physically warm, very welcoming and very well maintained. God bless! Very nice church.

Very impressive Victorian church building, with friendly helpers and a centre of Christian worship. Resident musicians providing magnificent experience, especially from the beautiful sounding organ. Eight bell ringing tower.

Very good if you believe in the Gospel of Christ and the Kingdom of God and of His Christ ! Lovely authentic Followers of the Way of Our Lord Jesus Christ go to this church. I really enjoyed myself here meeting my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Took communion and confessed my faith and belief in Christ as the Saviour Son of God the Father.

It's years since I we in here. A beautiful church.We just park near it to pick up our granddaughter.

The Church of St John the Evangelist, or just St John's Church in Ranmoor is the second church to stand on this site. The first, built in 1879 by E M Gibbs, was almost entirely destroyed by a fire in January 1887. Only the tower and spire survived.Reopening in September 1888 the current church was built, incorporating the 200 foot tower and spire. It remains the tallest church spire in Sheffield.Inside the Gothic revival exterior is a light, airy space. The vaulted ceiling is painted in an Arts and Crafts style, leading all the way to the apisidal chancel. The reredos behind the altar is ornately carved marble.Michael Palin was baptised in this church and rates it in his top seven favourites.
