Rothwell Country Park
Great place to have a wander round. We walked about three miles round the outer perimeter of the park and up to the summit. There is a sculpture trail in the park, however the stone sculptures are quite weathered now and some could do with being re-sculpted or replaced. The stone saying welcome to the park is also massively faded it's barely readable. There are loads of butterflies at the park which were nice to see. There's a few ponds, however most were dried up when we visited due to the weather. There's signposts in the country park to follow, though there are only a few of them. One signpost also mentions a maze, but we never saw one. Lots of green space and benches about.

First impressions. Muddy Hill with some wooded areas containg a couple of interesting sculptures. There are also a few small pools dotted about. Good view of South Leeds from the summit. Not exactly a quiet idyll as traffic noise was significant at 10am on a early January morning. No car park so had to park by the barrier at end of Bullough Lane . Not quite sure why a perfectly serviceable parking area was closed off further down the lane. We spent just over an hour exploring the different paths. Some are metalled and so easy walking. The dirt paths were very muddy in places. Some paths are suitable for wheelchairs but there is quite a steep road down from the roadside parking so make sure your batteries are well charged. I'm sure this place will improve with the return of spring.

Great spot for a work just off the River Aire. Just one of several parks and nature reserves which line the River Aire as it leaves Leeds. The park has plenty of trails to walk along and at its summit a view across miles of the Aire Valley.

Lovely place! Ignore the forest pic, and the big gate! Somehow my pics of a campsite in Dovedale got loaded to this place, and I can't remove them!Nice place to walk a dog, or enjoy the view!

A nice bit of wild land which has been returned to nature after a former life as a coal mine. As with many brownfield sites, you won't see mature woodland, but it seems to be establishing itself as an inviting habitat for some species.Bit of a stretch to call this a country park though, leading some other reviewers to confuse it with other places in the nearby area that have facilities. If you approach by car from Bullough Lane, there is a small parking area on the left, before some houses on the bend before the road is blocked off. Keep an eye out for this, because if you overshoot, there isn't really anywhere to turn round.
