Cound Church
A lovely old and historic church that had seen so much English history. The church is still open for regular services. The congregation at the Church are lovely people who all work hard to keep there place of worship open for future generations.

The first record of St Peter's Church in Cound appears in 1216, and there is an unbroken line of incumbents traceable back to that year. The nave is thought to have been built in the 12th century and the south aisle was added in the 13th. Both the heavy oak door and the oak trusses supporting the roof are from that period.Extensive internal restoration occured in the 19th century. The chancel was rebuilt, a North aisle added and the current box pews were installed.A particularly notable feature is the 15th century Doom painting above the chancel arch. Depicting a scene from the crucifixion, the work is in surprisingly good condition. The stained glass in the church is also note worthy. The east window is by Charles Kempe and dates to 1891; the two smaller windows around the font celebrated the millennium and around 1000 years of the church's existence.

Lovely walk alongside a river from the hamlet of Cound with carpets of snowdrops everywhere. Tea and cake in the Guildhall afterwards finished off a perfect day out.
