Awful from start to finish. We would not recommend to anyone! When we arrived we were pointed to our seats then left with no menus until the waitress returned to ask to take our order, leaving us to ask for the menus. The waitress was very young and had minimal training (this was not her fault at all, bad management for not giving her enough time to train) as everything we asked her she didn't know but also didn't go and check. When our food finally arrived we had to ask for cutlery, some of our parties food was well over cooked whilst some was under cooked, once again no waitress to be seen for us to mention this. No one collected our Plates, we ended up having to move them to the side and they stayed there the rest of the evening. No one came back over to ask for refills or if we wanted any dessert. A member of our party had to ask for menus AGAIN to select desserts and then again ask for someone to come back over to take the tables order. Once dessert came the plates got moved aside by us due to no one collecting. The rest of the evening we didn't see anyone so we kept going to the bar for drinks/ taking our empty glasses to the bar to clear some of the table. A member of our party became very ill (he was not drunk) and when we asked for a bag/ water to help him get to the car the waitress was extremely blunt and rude and gave us what looked like a cardboard pop corn box filled with water, not even a glass for him to drink from. Pictures attached below to show how much rubbish/ old plates were left during the night not just from our party. We will not be returning.

We had a lovely meal, our server Sam was very friendly, natural & accommodating. One of our party, only eats very limited things & there was no questions, when she asked for a smaller portion & a miss match of extras. There was a good buzz in restaurant, with lots of happy tables. It really made our evening. Great food great service. Thank you

I went there today with some of my family for my sisters birthday. The service was good, the servers were nice and understanding. But the food was horrible, I had a well done stake, it taste burnt. The mushrooms that came with the meal were really burnt and so was my sisters. We asked for new mushrooms because of how burnt and hard to chew they were and the waitress was understanding and gave us some new ones. But mine and two of my sister’s mushrooms was all in one bowl so we had to share them out, when we finished the mushrooms in the bowl we found a long brown hair in the bottom of the bowl. My boyfriend found a tiny hair in his chips. But we will definitely not go back there. Here are some pictures and you can see the burnt mushrooms next to the new ones they gave us. Including the hairs in the pictures. The service was great but not the food.

Check in for pre-booked table a little slow, but was very busy. A little wait longer than usual when we have been before, to to get drinks & food order, but probably due to large party and only two waiting staff. Seated by duty manager who was busy bringing food to other tables, and probably compensated for a lack of waiting staff. Ordered 2 Sirloin steak (Medium Rare) and a bottle of Rose Wine. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the chips were a only warm, as were the mushrooms and onion rings. If we had paid full price for our meals we would have been a little disappointed. But with a 30% off discount voucher, it was reasonable value for money.

Hard to get a seat when you are alone. Even though there are plenty of empty seats they are reluctant to give you them to eat. The food is not really good.. But better than the fast-food around the area

To be honest one star rating is too good , I found this place on booking . Com , well in honesty the hotel is nice and comfortable very clean ,And good value ,The first stay was a nightmare to begin as I booked 1 double for me and a twin for my workers that was a big mess as the rooms were mixed up , and both made up as doublesThe carvery was diabolical tasteless meat and poor veg ect the potatoes were not cooked and very hard,Again tonight we were back there and again no complaint about the rooms ,But we came in to eat just after 8 pmThe food actually was very poor we all had steak which was as tough as old boots ,Not satisfactory at all, we went to order sweet at approx 9.15 pm only to be told the restaurant was shut , well why were we not told this would be the case beforehand,Beggars belief ,Can’t understand why a restaurant like this can be so unprofessional , and it certainly is not good enough,I have no complaints about the hotel certainlyBut would never recommend any one to eat in the smugglers coveIan Lamont

The food was lovely and very well priced. Same goes for the drinks. Our waitress Rachel was great. She was very attentive with quick service. Very polite and friendly leaving us with a smile on our faces as we were walking out.

We arrived and promptly met and taken to our table. The waitress was friendly and polite, she explained the menu and took our order. The food arrived a lot sooner than we expected as the restaurant was very busy and the food was hot and well prepared.

Couldn't fault the service, be it in renewing items in our room or for the delivery of our meal. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Hotel and pub were built as part of a larger development of the usual Supermarkets and Takeaway outlets BUT planners had given no thought to how pedestrians could safely cross the many busy roads! The buses, to town and beyond, departed from Tesco which meant crossing umpteen junctions with NO PAVEMENTS.

Friendly welcome and service.Choice at carvery was good but beef was dry, gravy had not been topped up and cranberry sauce pot was empty (I did ask for more but it didn't arrive). A good range of vegetables.Our waitress was polite and helpful.
