Overpriced and over rated. They have charged me 5 times more for a flea and tick treatment that I could buy on the Internet. The vet did not care about my pet behaviour and dismissed all my concerns. I would not recommend them at all.

I was prompted to leave a review after my partner showed me the other negative reviews here as we are looking around at different options. I had a similar experience to some below.I have taken my cat once to this vet - we are new to the area and when I registered him, I was offered a free check up. He needed a new flea pill script and the price I was quote for the script seemed reasonable, so I made an appointment. These are the issues we had:1) The reception team seemed nice but they couldn’t find the notes I’d emailed from his previous vet. Once eventually found, told me I’d sent them to the wrong email address, despite the fact I sent to the one provided to me. How would I know the email address unless they gave it to me??2) the flea/tick pill price was astronomical. I can’t stress that enough. Always do your research. It was 5x the online prices (script price not included) and I had been recently made redundant so the cost was a bit devastating as my budget was tight. I called to query and was told “that’s just what we get charged for them” which simply isn’t true - there is always a mark up as the vet has to make some money, which I understand and would be fine with if it were reasonable. Why lie to me and make it sound like the price is entirely out of your control? A mark up of that much is pure greed. Maybe if they were better to their customers, they’d have more of them and not need to overcharge the ones foolish enough to go. No option to return them (unopened) for a refund was offered. The vet had already opened one box while I was in the room but the other was not opened and returnable. So I will never seek medication from them again if I can get it online. We used to be go to quite an expensive vet in my old area where they tried to upsell you on everything and even there the medication markup was never that high.3) most concerning, the vet was very rough with my shy, terrified boy. He finds vet visits traumatic even with the kindest vet, but I was frankly quite shocked with how she pulled him and shoved him around. He tends to just huddle and offer no resistance. On this occasion he was no different - he showed no aggression or resistance and was just sweating through his paws a lot in fear. The vet grabbed his face roughly and was pushing on a chipped tooth he had to show me that “he had no pain” even with him visibly uncomfortable. What compounded it for me was when we got him home he ran and hid in a dark corner alone for several hours and didn’t want to be touched. He has NEVER reacted like that. Ever. And he’s an ex-stray who has been to the vet a fair amount in his life for various things (he used to scrap a bit with neighborhood cats and would get scratches etc that needed cleaning) but was always happy and relieved to be home after those visits. He was clearly traumatised and I felt awful. For his sake, I can’t bring myself to take him back. We just got a reminder about his vaccination updates but we’re moving to another vet. I can’t do that to him again. I’ve never seen him hide and huddle up as far away from us as he could get. It was heart breaking. I didn’t catch the vets name, so I can’t name her here I’m sure the practice can look up and see who she saw.Based on all the reviews I’m reading, Brockwell vet has some serious issues with their staff and attitudes. I’m sure customers do have good experiences with them, but based on the one I had, the unreasonable cost, the way my cat was traumatised, and the other reviews here which back up what I said so I know I didn’t imagine it, we won’t be returning customers. Also, reading some of the vet's responses to feedback, they seem quite defensive and often try to throw in little comments undermining the feedback even while pretending to be sympathetic. Its invalidating and takes no responsibility for what are clearly not made up issues with the vet practice - so much negative feedback, much of it saying the same thing - shows that these customers are not out to get you or being unreasonable. Please just take the feedback on board.

I have been using Brockwell vet practice for a couple of years but the last 2 visits have left me disappointed and upset to the point where I've decided I'll take my business elsewhere. My daughter took our dog in for treatment this morning (26 July 2023) and was treated rudely by the receptionist. My daughter was early and asked if it was possible to be seen early. At that point the receptionist turned to her colleague and said turn up what ever time you want!". This comment was completely unnecessary and rude. Not sure how that helps customer confidence.During the examination

We took our dog in to Brockwell vets because his toe was swollen, and we suspected it might be a grass seed having removed one ourselves at home. We took him in for a consultation and the vet said he needed surgery, didn't charge us a consultation fee which we thought was kind.We took him in to the vets for his surgery. I understand that the surgeon's name was Jack. When we came back later they gave us his medication but failed to explain how we needed to care for him at home. Nonetheless we left feeling that we had a good service. It was only when our dog's paw did not reduce in size that we started to be concerned. We had a check up 3 days later and the vet that saw him seemed concerned, and said that he needed to have more surgery, this time 'by someone more experienced'. This was on Saturday and the vet managed to fit our dog in for surgery on Monday, because we were concerned about their comments - surely all vets should be experienced with this surgery. He went in for surgery and my partner was told 'if he barks at other dogs you'll need to pick him up early' which I was surprised about since our regular vet would never say that to us. Soon after my partner left I received a call to say they had found the grass seed and he was ready to be picked up. I came and collected him. Only on the journey back did I realise that his wound had not been cleaned at all nor did he receive any stitches. I had blood on my shirt carrying him home from the wound. He was half awake when we came to collect him and clearly in pain. When I asked them whether he was given medication to ensure that we didn't give him any at home, the answer was unclear but i was told i should wait until the following day to give him medication. I suspect that they did not give him any painkillers and he was whining most of the day and night afterwards until we gave him medication the next day.His wound still has not healed properly and would seem to have benefited from proper stitching. We were told at the time that the surgeon was the best in the area, but after the ordeal we find that hard to believe. Maybe we had an isolated experience but we feel that the vets rushed our dog's surgery and did not perform duties with patience and care. Whilst we were not charged for the second visit because of the poor work by the other surgeon on the first visit, we will not return to Brockwell vets and will stick with our regular vet from now on.A vetinary practice should be run and staffed by members that are passionate about working with animals and it is apparent that not all of the vets at the practice are operating with the best interests of the animal they are working on.Update - the vet stated in their response that they wanted wounds to drain however many of our friends with dogs have experienced grass seed issues over this summer, all have had surgery with other vets and all of them have had bandages applied. All of them healed over a short period of time compared to several weeks for our dog. None of this was communicated to us and it was extremely distressing not only for our pet but for us. Regarding their comment that the grass seed can be difficult to find, it took 20 minutes to find the grass seed in the surgery after we complained and therefore, a) it was easy to spot and b) it confirms the person undertaking the first surgery was not experienced at all. Furthermore, our dog was clearly not medicated after the 2nd surgery and was left in pain. The surgery is lucky we have decided not to approach a solicitor. There has been no apology since this issue and we would still strongly recommend you do not use this vet.

I have been coming here with my pet over 10 years, although the vets do tend to rotate out every few years each vet is professional and very attentive. My last visit the Dr managed with some care and attention to extract some tarter which would otherwise have had to be removed under anaesthetic. They are always busy so advise to book in advance and be patient if your appointment is a little delayed. Half hour free parking rihht outside or good tranaport links help :)

I took my cat to get neutered yesterday and he came home still a bit wobbly, but in very good spirits. His wounds are healing nicely so I wanted to say a big thank you from me and Alfie

We've been bringing our rabbits here for several years and have always been very pleased with the service. They always do their best to fit you in and we liked all the vets we've seen. Most recently our rabbit took longer to recover from an operation than we would have liked and they were very helpful and caring, taking her back in the following day to keep an eye on her and make sure she was eating properly and on the mend before we brought her home again. Straightforward to deal with and unsentimental, which is what I want in a vet.

Took our dog to be neutered here and was a really pleasant experience, they were lovely with him, looked after him all day, kept us updated and were really helpful in the following weeks when we popped in with questions about his wound.Younger male vet here is always really helpful about the best ways to get value for money when looking at treatments for the dog and advises on preventative measures, and in general is a really nice guy who is lovely with our dog. Older female vet is not as friendly, quite transactional and has overlooked things in the past so would be only criticism.
