A beautiful home that has the most caring staff I have ever met. I have never seen such compassion in a job, it's incredible to see. The environment is also beautiful with great open spaces around the home and the interior is modern and fantastic

There are a couple of staff members who are friendly but ask a question and the answer is usually I wasn't on duty so I don't know" or "so and so is dealing with that and they're off sick this week"" . Most staff seem untrained in simple tasks like checking a hearing aid. As for interaction with residents some of the staff seem to avoid it. I have visited many nursing and residential homes in a professional capacity and a few were well below expectations. Gibraltar house joins that category."

Just to advise visitors who call later in the day that the steep access road lighting has improved. The staff have responded to my initial report of bad lighting, especially at the bottom junction. There is even a display light highlighting the signboard. Well done!

I visited my Bamps today with my 9 year old son. We were very concerned about the cleanliness of the home. My timid son said, “We need a gas mask in here!” There was an awful odour - urine I think. Clearly the home is not being cleaned! It seriously needed a hoover too! There’s were bits all over the floors throughout, crumbs all over Bamps windowsill and drawer tops. There was faces all his toilet. It was disgusting. We should be smelling air freshers, bleach, cleaning products. Especially after Covid and through the winter months. We then found Bamps slouched in an arm chair eating his roast dinner with his plate balancing on his tummy. No dining room table or socialising.I went to his room and was shocked to find a lady sleeping in his bed. I appreciate that the residents might be confused but no staff knew she was there. This also has hygiene concerns. There is still no name or photo of him on his bedroom door - no wonder the residents are in the wrong rooms. How is Bamps supposed to recognise his? Last time I visited, his photos were in someone else’s room. And his coats missing - always lost clothes. As always, we had to take Bamps to the barbers to cut is hair and beard. He sits beautifully and patiently. I then cut his finger and toe nails. I noticed other residents had long nails too. Why is this not being done at the home? It’s basic care. The staff seemed friendly, but I’d never seen any of them before. Why has his ward been changed so often? There’s no consistency for Bamps with staff or familiarity with surroundings. There’s one sad looking, uninviting community room for the residents. We rarely see photos of Bamps and never hear of any nice activities being provided, like in other homes. My son’s gone to bed describing it as a “prison”.I know my mother and Aunty have regularly expressed their concerns. Why is nothing being done? This is absolutely unacceptable, my Bamps pays a fortune every month to stay here. Where is his quality of life? Why is he never outside or taken on day trips? Sadly, he is also quite far away from us and we wish to move him to a home closer by so we can visit him more. But are being stopped from doing this. This is very sad, these are his last years.

When I went to visit I was welcomed warmly by the team and made to feel at home. I could really see the meaningful bonds they have created with the people who live there and the efforts that have been made in this wonderful home ❤️

My 94 year old mum is here at the moment because she broke her arm and needs nursing help until it's strong enough to go back on her own. She was worried at first but now can't speak highly enough of the place or the lovely staff.
