I have been using Vets for Pets for over 10 years, and the Maldon branch for 5. They used to be really good & accomodating, you could get appointments really easily, especailly at weekends if you work full time. But now its as hard to get an appointment for my animals as it is to be seen by a doctor, and now you can only call up on the morning of to get an appointment, rather than actually getting something booked in advance to plan around work. Not to mention the receptionts are now as hostile as a doctors receptionists too, and some will tell you one thing ie call in the next morning for a evening appointment, to then call in and be told they are emergency appointments only. The price increases over the years have also got ridiculous, and it now costs more to use Vets for Pets than a small independant surgery. Its now got to a point where I am looking to move all my animals elsewhere to somewhere more accomodating, and also friendly when you call.*update* just had to return for my dog to be given the all clear for medication she was on the past week, to be hit with a £40. I over 10 years I've never had to pay any bogus charges when a pet went back for a check up, relating to the same problem. So in all, £100 for a consultation (it was only for a claw as well). Absolutely cancelling our pet plan and going elsewhere.

Friendly ,helpful ,my little girl was spayed last week and is healing nicely ,took her back for check and she was excited to see the nurses who had looked after her .They had put her in this little suit after her op much better than a cone .I highly recommend them

Just wanted to give the receptionist a review. The vets are amazing but on my visit yesterday with my Staffie, the receptionist was so nice and friendly, all smiles and chatted to me about my dog . She also listened patiently to my granddaughter telling her how she wants to be a vet. I didn’t get her name but she ought to get a receptionist of the year award and I’d like to say thank you for making it such a pleasant visit. My dog’s name is Biscuit and my appointment was 16.15 1/6/23.

The vet was friendly and answered all my questions I asked in a friendly way. She looked over my dog throughly and assured me she was well. She administered the jab in the nicest way possible. Very confident in her role. In the past vets have moaned that I haven’t had my dog neutered and this vet didn’t seem bothered by it and respected my decision. I would be happy to see her again for pebbles :)

As usual friendly staff. Dental procedure discussed beforehand. Call afterwards with an update. On collection a debrief and full instructions for aftercare and meds. Helped out to my car with my dog. Follow up call today (next day) to see how my dog was getting on and to say if any problems do not hesitate to contact them.

Just want to say how much we appreciate the kindness and care always shown from Nadia the vet. She cares for all of our animals with so much compassion and nothing is ever too much trouble. She is a real asset to the practice and has helped so much over the last few years. She explains things so well and know matter how busy she is, she always takes the time to listen and support us with all our concerns. A big thankyou to her!!

After pointing out a change in my dogs behaviour in the last week at her routine health check and vaccination booster. The vet examined my dog and completely unexpectedly found a mass most likely malignant and because of where it is inoperable. This was such a shock but the vet did try to explain my options clearly even though I was obviously emotional. The prognosis is bleak but at least we can investigate and make informed choices about what’s best for our much loved dog.As a post script to the above. Our dog went in for her investigation which was blood tests an x-ray (to see if the tumor had spread) and a biopsy. Approx cost £750. In the afternoon I got a telephone call from the original vet to say the blood tests were good from the x-ray they could see no spread of tumor. Oh and we didn’t do the biopsy. Why? Because we couldn’t find anything there was no mass it has disappeared!! They could only assume the mass had not been a tumor but inflammation that had sorted itself out without treatment during the 10 days that we waited for the investigations. As you can imagine I was euphoric when I went to pick my dog up and paid the £505 bill but by the next day I started to get angry. Suppose we couldn’t have afforded the tests our poor dog would have been on palliative care (or worse) for no reason. I emailed the vet the next day raising my concerns asking why they didn’t consider inflammation in the first place before putting our dog and us through these unnecessary tests and giving us such a bleak prognosis. So far 3 days later I have had no response or acknowledgement of my email.I won’t be leaving this I want an explanation when I get one I will update my review again.

Vets were very friendly and helpful. Store is smaller than some others but that's to be expected in a smaller town. Still had a suitable range of products.
