Lovely walk not to difficult with easy paths to follow and some amazing views over Dundee in one direction and the snowy mountains tops in the other.Nice for a small walk but also lots to explore so perfect for longer hikes too.seallaidhean àlainn de Dhùn Dèagh.

Part of the Sidlaw Range. Pleasant walks and bike tracks although rocky and steep in parts. Great view of Dundee from the top.

Beautiful place with gorgeous views of Dundee and Angus. It's quite an easy hike from the Balkello Woodlands when approached from the west. There's also a less steep path that leads to the top starting at the east side of the woodlands. Although not too strenuous, proper footwear is definitely a must. There's lots of parking space in the Balkello Woodland car park.

On a clear day and with a reasonably stiff breeze, this area is well worth the walk out from Dundee along Strathmartine Road, through Brigfoot and up to Balkello Hill (which is also sometimes referred to as Balluderon Hill). Ascend by the old quarry and take time at the Syd Scroggie monument to enjoy the superb views out across the Tay Estuary towards Broughty Castle and Buddon Ness, St Andrew, Dundee itself, and also over towards Newburgh in Fife. Continue on the track and head downwards before heading up again and onto the top of Craigowl itself from where the aforesaid views are even more panoramic, and also to the hills to the North and East with Glen Ogilvie in the foreground. A right good walk. Nothing too difficult, but make sure and be prepared for all weathers, particularly cloud and mist which can descend onto Craigowl in and instant, but be gone just as quickly.

Good views. Pity about the idiots leaving rubbish on the hill!
