Dobbies Garden Centre Edinburgh

Excellent shopping experience. Would have been 5 star but for the cold hot chocolate we received this is not the first time we have received lukewarm hot drinks. Something you could possibly find the reason why. Thank you.

Restaurant service is painfully slow even though it only seemed half full. There's a hoice of 3 soups, but none were left by 2pm. Only one of the waiting staff seemed to care about giving good service, and I think he was a supervisor.

Came to visit around 13:30. Wasn’t as busy as we have seen it other days. Sat in the dog friendly area as we had our Labrador with us. My partner went up to order our drinks and as if we could get a menu to order food as we had non sat on our table apart from a kids menu. The girl behind the counter said she would send someone over to our table to serve us so we can order lunch as it is table service. She put over the radio to get someone to come and take the order and give us a menu. We sat for 15 minutes with our hot drinks we had ordered and waited for someone to come over. Not once did someone come into the dog friendly to check if any other tables needed serving etc. with us having our dog we weren’t really able to go about chasing someone to ask for a menu/to get our order taken. Overheard another table discussing the same issue of not being served for lunch and they left after waiting a similar time to us. Considering we saw at least 5 people on the restaurant floor, they didn’t really look over to the dog friendly area at all. We got fed up waiting, considering that the lovely girl behind the counter for hot drinks and cakes asked over the radio to have someone go up to take an order and gone elsewhere.

We love Dobbies Garden Centre. One of the best around Edinburgh. It’s often on the pricey side, but the quality is there—a fantastic selection of plants, furniture, garden furniture and tools. You also have a pet section with aquariums - a great attraction for kids. There are a few other departments: toys, DIY, books, food market, clothes. Cafe, Restaurant and soft play on site.

Fish and chips were great tasting. Nice big piece of fish . Another of gluten-free and vegetarian choices.Service in store was very good as well.Well laid out.Liked our visit.

Went to see the Christmas display, but it's so lack lustre compared to previous years, like when I used to go with my kids in 2000s. The cafe has also gone downhill, with service being all over the place, some at counter but some at table and huge queue with very slow service. Scones are not as good as they were, flat now when they used to be huge. Table hadn't been cleaned, so we had to wipe down ourselves. The cups and teapot were not properly clean either. Not enough milk provided for 2 pots of tea, felt like it was rationed. Poor gluten free offerings, especially on the cake and biscuit side. Ended up with a tiny piece of mass produced cake at a whopping £2.99. Overall disappointing visit.

Already done a review for our most frequently visited Dobbies. So in fairness here's one for this one which is nearly 60 miles away from where we stay. Can assure you the visit into the restaurant was well worth the trip. Yes very busy but soon were seated. When ready, the waitress (Margaret) took our order for fish and chips. Noticed that the team are very well organised with their assigned duties. The meals were lovely and enjoyed a wee cake after. As we were leaving said to the manageress (Lynne) that would phone to head office and also do a review.

Went principally to go to Lakeland but spent in other outdoor shop too as well as in Dobbies. Restaurant/Cafe was very busy. TBH, I preferred the old restaurant before all the revamp was done.Overall, always plenty to see at Dobbies

A really great nursery with a variety of shops including a dog-friendly restaurant. My family and I visit often!The service at the restaurant does need some work. Have been there a couple of times and always receive my coffee & tea late. The kitchen is super fast - like really fast! But then your coffee arrives well after the meal is done.Great food at reasonable prices.

Disappointing visit to the cafe, 25 mins from joining queue to being served, soft covered seats were filthy, covered in stains, which arent new, engrained in and we were given possibly the smallest slice of cake ever, costing £3.99. Expect better.
