The Groom Room Doncaster Thorne

I took my pooch to The Groom Room in Doncaster (Thorne Road Retail Park) from being less than a year old and from that day, we have had a different dog ever since.My dogs coat is prone to matts and as it’s owner, I would cut/brush out the matts to save the distress to him as much as I could but from a young age, he has been a handful when it comes to grooming/bathing. It’s something that’s always been an issue before taking to the Groom Room but as it’s owner, I tried my hardest to help but always felt I was at a loss. So, it was a trip to the groomers that was my only hope and option.From the very start, I should’ve known the games they were playing. I constantly had phone calls half way through the groom time (2 hour slots) saying that I would need to pay “extra” because there would be a couple of matts found on my dog. The first few times, I thought that’s understandable but every time I’d pick my dog up, he’d be scalped to the point that sometimes I’d see little knicks that they’d made on his belly. Your mind plays all these different scenarios but I know it would’ve caused my dog absolute stress and panic that they were implementing into him! The more times I’d go to collect him, the money would go up for the added time spent on him which would sometimes be £15 extra on top of a £35 groom! I had enough! I knew that every time I picked him up, he was virtually running out of the shop and door indicating to me that he wanted to get the hell out of there and from then on, my trust was broken and I didn’t require their custom AGAIN and would never recommend them to anyone - not even my worst enemy!Luckily, I found a 1-2-1 groomer that gave him the tender, loving care he needed and deserved. He’s very calm and will on the odd occasion have his moments where he doesn’t want to play ball, but he’s being looked after and treated as though my baby is their baby and that’s all I ever wanted as an owner!You expect professionals to love and care for your babies just like they would their own but obviously, they clearly don’t! It’s all money oriented with The Groom Room (Doncaster Thorne Road Retail Park to be exact) and to get the best targets across the different districts! There’s no love and passion! It’s a job to them!Not every Groom Room is the same but for my own personal experience, I’m ashamed to ever of taken my dog to this place! It has caused so much pain and suffering to not only my dog, but to me as it’s owner.Please think carefully before making any rational decisions when taking your pets to any grooming or vets because you really don’t know what happens behind closed doors!

Yorkshire terriers groomed and looked great. They were handled with care and kindness. Very pleased

Would highly recommend! Staff so friendly and polite especially Mazi! They always have my dog looking so fresh after his grooming session, one thing to mention aswell is my dog actually looks forward to going to get a trim there, always been a struggle elsewhere. Many thanks and see you next time

Flo came in for a groom and summer spa on Monday and Holly was great with her! She’s done the groom exactly how I wanted and flo seemed very happy and bouncy when she came out. We will be coming back for her bath and brush soon!

My boxer dog Levi absolutely loves coming in for a bath & brush. He loves all the staff but Beth is his favourite. It is very hard to get a appointment as they are so busy so I would advise booking online in advance. Very passionate about pets you can see they genuinely love their job. My dog always comes out looking and smelling beautiful.

Extremely disappointed. Just picked up my dog and it looks the same as when I dropped her, even worst as she covered in hair and has an uneven trim. I paid an extra £7 for stain removal and teeth cleaning, no difference. The full groom included also nail trimming, apparently the staff done their best as my dog would not let them to, but I paid for it( I 'll have to do it at home and finish the groom).This was the second time we visited them, the first time was the same but I thought I'll give it another chance, big mistake as I lost money and I've ended up doing it myself.

Overall did a fantastic job, Ebony who was our groomer made my puppy feel safe and made it an overall positive experience for me and my dog. We have already booked in for her next groom.

I've fetched my 2 year old Patterdale x shitzu to the groom room 4 times now and each time I am very impressed. I book her in for a full pamper. Shampoo, condition, nails clipped the works. Stella can be very wild at times but they take such good care of her. Her coat is always shiny and she smells beautiful when we collect her. Thank you to the team there, I wouldn't take stella anywhere else. Highly reccomend fantastic customer service too.

Terrible service. We took our dog for a full groom and upon collection, we paid the remainder of the balance. He was then brought out and looked pretty much the same as he did when we dropped him off. I asked if he’d had a trim and the girl said she didn’t feel comfortable cutting his coat from the top so just trimmed the legs and a little from underneath. His nails weren’t trimmed as ‘they didn’t need doing’ and we’d paid extra for ‘tear stain removal’. We came back the following day to express our dissatisfaction as it was busy when I collected him and didn’t want to hold the line. The lady we spoke to was very rude and kept insisting that he had a full trim even though she hadn’t seen him. We asked to speak to the manager Ben who took my number and said he would call me back the next day to arrange for another trim. I was very appreciative and we have still not had the call back. All in all, awful service and we will most definitely not be going there again. We felt conned!

I could not be happier with the service that was carried out by Holly! You can really tell that this is her passion and she puts her all into her groom every time. I wouldn’t go to anyone else to have my furry friend groomed, an absolute stand out and credit to the team!
