Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort

Beautiful hotel in a quiet area. Staff was wonderful and accommodating- our online booking didn't go through (after we received a confirmation), but they actually upgraded us to a suite. We were attached to the bottom floor. The hallway carpet was wet and it did smell a little of mold. Nothing unexpected or awful, given the age of the house.

Absolutely beautiful. Stayed here for our anniversary and it was stunning. Can't think of a single thing to criticise. The bed was possibly the most comfortable bed I've slept in in my life. Room was large, beautifully decorated. Lovely bath and shower. (would've been nice to only have the mirror lamps on rather than the full stark bathroom light whilst in the bath) restaurant was lovely, great menu. Beautiful bottle of red left in our room for our stay.Would highly recommend.

A wonderful experience. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The building itself is beautiful and fun to explore and the grounds are the best in Scotland I've yet found. They have covered lounge chairs, beautiful gardens, huge laws with tree lines big enough to get lost in and the food offered at the restaurant was good. Loved this place. Worth the cost, which was a bit steep

The building is lovely but it’s been over 15 years so was looking forward to a proper 5* experience.Whilst the food and surroundings are great. The service is shocking. We waited so long for a dessert order that we gave up. Literally no one came near our table. Only when we got up to leave did someone rush over. When we walked out the restaurant we clocked 2 waiting staff sitting about on their phones.Getting table service in the grand hall was equally painful.In the hotels defence I know it’s hard to get staff. However some basic training is sorely required never mind what you’d expect from a 5* hotel.The exception was the barman in the hotel bar. He was a credit to the hotel

The Eco-Friendly Forest Retreat was a sanctuary for nature lovers. Surrounded by the beauty of the forest, it provided a harmonious escape. Our lodge room was cozy, and the eco-friendly amenities were a testament to sustainability. The lodge staff were passionate about conservation and provided valuable tips for exploring the local ecosystem. This is a place where nature's rhythms guide your stay.

Lovely hotel with lovely, friendly staff. Our room (number 30) was very quiet, comfortable and spacious. The gym was well serviced and the 25 meter pool was fantastic. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced and the bar area proved a brilliantly comfy place to watch the rugby world cup. Overall a lovely place. We wouldn't have any issues with staying again.

I recommend this beautiful place to stay, the rooms are lovely, it’s a beautiful building and the staff are really, really lovely. I have to say, the food was exceptional and the staff in the restaurant and at breakfast were just so utterly lovely to us, so warm and friendly and really kind to our daughter. We had a wonderful stay. The only minor negative was the room could have been a notch cleaner, it was mostly very well presented, just minor things to really improve would be to deep clean the rooms. Otherwise the most lovely staff. Highly recommend

We have had a wonderful few days at Mar Hall. The staff are professional, friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. The hotel is beautiful. The spa treatments were very good. A really lovely experience. Would highly recommend. We will be back.

Beautiful old hotel with lots of preserved period features. The staff were warm and friendly and very helpful. Current reduced leisure facilities did not spoil our stay. Food in the lounge and restaurant was well presented and very tasty. We especially liked the cajun spiced crisps.If I was to pick fault, then the frayed and torn curtains in bedroom 14, was a minor issue. A hot tub/ jacuzzi in the pool area would be a welcome addition to the facilities.
