Our son was struggling a little with GCSE Lit and Lang. He wasn't enjoying either subject and his predicted grades were lower than other subjects. However, he found Janet's lectures really helpful and enjoyable and it is pretty clear that they made a real difference. His GCSE grades were one and two grades higher than his predicted grades. We're absolutely delighted!

Janet is Excellent.Her knowledge of both English GCSEs is incredible and she is also an expert in connecting with her students. Her total commitment to imparting knowledge has not only enabled my son to improve significantly but to also feel inspired and enthusiastic about this subject. He always looked forward to her tutoring sessions and has asked me to rate her as highly as I possible can!There's also no need to worry about the lessons being on zoom - she will manage the process all the way, always sending reminders and follow up notes after each lesson.My advice - don't hesitate to get in touch with her, believe me, you will feel so lucky to have found her.

My son has been tutored by Janet for the last year and has just sat his GCSEs. He didn’t believe in himself prior to Janet’s sessions but as time as passed he has recognised that he can enjoy English and has happily and enthusiastically joined several sessions with Janet each week. Janet works really hard with the students, is clear in her teaching and provides thorough notes after each session which has been very beneficial. Janet it just what you need in a tutor! She is knowledgeable, helpful and encouraging. I cannot praise her enough in how she gave my son his confidence back and helped him see where he was going wrong. I am writing this without having had his results but I can't fault her. She was great with feedback, accommodating and my son found the sessions fun. I am hoping the results go in his favour but even if not, it was money very well spentUpdate: My son got his GCSE results today. He got a 9 for English Language and an 8 for English Literature. Both my son and daughter had revision classes with Janet as both had lacked confidence with English Language but even after their first few sessions I noticed a real positive impact on their understanding of how to answer the exam questions and were so much more confident. My daughter has just finished her lessons and has confidently sat both GCSE papers. The online lessons with Janet were relaxed and my daughter felt comfortable joining in. She really enjoyed the sessions and said they were fun too. Janet also kindly offered a ‘day before’ session which was so helpful and offered last minute tips for each paper and I know they really made a difference. My daughter said she actually enjoyed the exam which just shows how much she benefitted from Janet’s lessons. I would highly recommend Janet to friends and family. My daughter was sad they had come to an end but she will use the skills learnt to continue into her A level subjects.

Janet has been a fantastic tutor for my son this year. The group English Language sessions worked really well for him and he preferred this to 1 to 1. Each half term he completed a past paper and Janet gave detailed feedback on how he could improve. He also took part in a selection of English Literature sessions nearer to the exams. He achieved 7s in both Language and Literature which helped him to secure his place at sixth form. I would definitely recommend Janet. Her extensive knowledge of the exams and how they are marked and graded really helped my son to focus on what he needed to do to improve.

I would highly recommend Janet to anyone who will Listen. I was worried the session was on a group zoom rather than one to one, but I shouldn’t have been. Janet still got to know her pupils individually and knew exactly my daughters ability. What I love about Janets tutor sessions it didn’t just end when the hour was up, it was followed up with notes from what they have just learnt and the revision notes had pictures which really helped which we could print off and make into a booklet and have the revision notes easy to hand. I am pleased to say my daughter passed x

Janet’s lessons were great for our son. He was finding it hard to structure his English revision in year 11. The online group lessons really helped him focus and feel confident for the exams, and his GCSE grades for English were higher than his predictions. He said he wished Janet had been his English teacher at school!

My daughter has just achieved a grade 9 in English Language after really lacking confidence in this subject throughout Year 10 and much of Year 11. As I beamed with pride at her on results day, she pointed to the English grade on the paper and declared ‘well, that one is because of Janet’. Full disclosure: I am an English teacher myself so the statement left my ego a little bruised but it was in no way less true. It turns out 15 year olds don’t always take too kindly to being tutored by their mums and that is where Janet came in after being highly recommended by a friend. Her sessions are the perfect mix of equipping her students with the necessary exam skills whilst managing to be engaging, creative and reassuring. The increased confidence in my daughter’s approach to English Language was apparent after just one of Janet’s revision sessions. On top of that, Janet goes above and beyond to give constructive, supportive and accessible feedback that allows the students to quickly progress. I have to confess to listening into the sessions in order to pinch ideas for my own teaching! Overall, Janet is an outstanding tutor and my soon to be Year 10 son will also be enrolling in her sessions (even if he does not know it yet). Highly, highly recommend.
