Orwell Clunch Pit

Always a gun place for the kids, running up and down the slopes, being dragons in the cave and a nice view and further walk at the top! Lots of places to explore.

A beautiful wildflower spot on summer with many butterflies, including the chalk hill blue which is quite rare.

What a delightful surprise, following a public footpath sign up past St. Andrews Church in Orwell, across a field, through the hedge and gate and you pop out into this wonderful place to explore.A cave, millennium beacon, paths cross crossing and lots of undergrowth.

What a lovely find; and a great add-on to a Wimpole walk

Reminds me of a 'Teletubby type' landscape. A 'clunch pit', research that if you're interested. Also research 'Ring Villages', from Gog Ma Gog hills to Wimpole to see why villages built either side of this Chalk Ridge. I have been exploring this area since I was young, still going with my family.However! Small issue:There is a tiny 'cave' there with dog pooh bags within, left by inconsiderate dog owners. I wish the 'volunteers/ custodians' had cleared there too. My nephews children found this Easter 2022 - shame as they revelled in exploring cave, only to find pooh in bags!! Can this be remedied 'team'??

It's a pit. That's what it is. 30 minutes max. Nice to walk the dog I guess.

Lovely place to walk, more beautiful in better weather, it was nice to take the dog round.

Very nice hidden treasure only found by accident. Lovely place to walk dogs & just relax & enjoy the scenery.
