The Retreat

Me and my partner visited The Retreat for our anniversary and I genuinely couldn't think of a single bad thing to say about this self catering holiday.Carl and Lesley greeted us in and we quickly became comfortable and settled. The goats on site were such a delight to pet and feed just an added bonus to the experience.The hot tub was absolutely divine especially due to there being hardly any light or sound pollution in the area, you were able to sit back relax and peacefully gaze up at the stars.Overall The Retreat is a no brainer in peaceful getaways and I would 100% recommend this to anyone.

Amazing place to stay! The Owl Barn was beautifully furnished and very clean. Felt like we were living in luxury, especially with the hot tub! The views across to the coast from the hot tub and garden are breathtaking! We even saw a barn owl most evenings after 8pm! The hosts were lovely and very friendly, helped us with any quires and kept the site very tidy. There is 4 hole pitch and putt, and a field to play tennis, badminton, or any other games. Saw lots of wildlife and also made friends with the goats! Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

A fantastic base to explore the Devon coastline. The house is perfect, immaculate and includes everything you could possibly need for a holiday. Sipping champagne from the hot tub whilst looking across the bay is a memory that will stay with us forever. The owners Lesley and Carl looked after us all really well. The kids loved feeding the goats. Thanks for a great week.

What a Gem ! This place is amazing. The location is perfect to explore Devon walks and go to the beaches. The accommodation is beautiful and spotless. The beds were so comfortable. The views were stunning. The hosts Lesley and Carl were excellent, welcoming, informative and friendly. Nothing was to much trouble. We would highly recommend this place. Just returned from our third visit to The Retreat. Another wonderful time. Carl and Les are amazing hosts, and the team do a great job of looking after the guests and facilities. All the accommodation is of a high standard and fully equipped. Beautiful location and surroundings.

Great barn conversion. 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Large lounge. Kitchen with all appliances. Spotlessly clean.View to the sea, Lundy Island and up the Devon coast.

What a place!!!! My family and I stayed in swallow with our German Shepherd. Spotlessly clean and fitted to a standard way above the description. Carl and Leslie are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and best of all are really warm and friendly people. I could keep singing the praises of this place but one word does it. PERFECT. We have already booked for next year.

We have just returned from the Retreat as a family of 17 having sole occupancy of all the accommodation. The experience was great from the moment we arrived and being greeted by the owners Leslie and Carl.The accommodation itself was lovely. Both hot tubs were in daily use the views from which were gorgeous. The grandchildren fed the goats regularly and made the most of the pitch and put golf. We had a couple of BBQ's which went down well, relaxing in the summer evenings.Carl was very informative about the surrounding area, and it's history and was very good interacting with the children. We took 2 dogs and they played with Buddy " the resident Collie. Overall our stay was brilliant and I would highly recommend "The Retreat" as the place to stay in such a beautiful part of the country. A stone's throw from the village of "Clovelly" .Thanks also to both Leslie and Carl who were so lovely as nothing was too much trouble . Thanks again for such a wonderful week."

Fantastic cottage with wonderful views and bonus hot tub. Leslie and Carl were wonderful hosts. The cottage slept 8 comfortably and was immaculately clean, there is plenty space to cook and eat or sit on the sofa as a group too we never felt crowded. The goats provided lots of entertainment too!
