We made and unplanned stop for food and refreshments here and had an absolutely splendid time. Fabulous service and welcome, first class food and a wonderful selection of drinks are the minimum here, rather than the aim. The building and garden are superb and very comfortable and the car park is quite large. That said, we visited when it was quiet, but listening to our host, they do get extremely busy during their peak business. Such a delightful find and highly recommended.

If you enjoy good bar food then The Martins Arms have hit that market but for those of us who have loved their fine dining experience for many years then it’s not for you. Gone are all the elegant touches that made it our go to restaurant for good service and exquisite food - gone is a warm welcome - cloth napkins, pre - meal home made bread and quality butter, amuse Bouche but the biggest disappointment was the food. Lacked flavour and finesse, not one dish was memorable except for an over powering after taste of Truffle Oil.Sorry Martins Arms - I wish the new owners all the best but you are no longer our special place for dining.

Wow, this place is such a hidden gem. Food is absolutely lovely, my boyfriend had katsu venison loin which was cooked beautifully and I had the beef burger. staff are great and they have a great selection of drinks. We went on bonfire weekend so after we finished our food we all went outside to watch the fireworks. Lovely.

Been coming here on and off for 8 years now as I love the old building and decor and the beer garden is a little bit of paradise - but not been for a while….. pleased to report the new owners have got it just right - superb bar food, friendly and efficient service and my favourite Nottingham EPA beer on tap and perfectly served. Will be back to try the restaurant side of things soon.

Lunch. In the beautiful beer garden.A little trip out to Colston Bassett Nottinghamshire's most expensive village. This is a very traditional pub.The Martin's Arms is a Grade 2 listed building. It is now in the hands of new owners. As it was a sunny day, we sat in their beautifully tended garden with our dogs.We just had a little snack.SandwichFish Finger, Tartare Sauce, Baby Gem £9.It was very tasty and filled with fresh fish goujons and served with salad & fries.Martins Arms Ploughman's Lunch,Pork Pie, Honey Roast Ham, Pickle, Stilton, Cheddar,Apple, CeleryGrapes, Homemade Bread £16Delightful and very filling.Looking at the main menu, we were very tempted but resisted and will definitely return to try some of the dishes next timeIn the meantime, if you're in the area and want a relaxed drink or something to eat, stop off here and support the new owners.

A quaint very traditional English pub. We had a business meeting lunch. Pub was quiet on a Tues so everything worked pretty well. Good choice of beers & drinks. Very average food menu, quiet limited & slightly disappointing. My cheese burger was about 5/10, accompanying chips were good though. My guests both had chicken Caesar salads & both described them as pretty average. Staff were nice & quite attentive.

We visited the Martins arms for meal on a rare evening out. Despite booking the staff seemed a little unsure where we were going to sit. At the table drinks and then food orders were taken. Food was reasonably prompt well presented. I thought the food was nice and tasty but wasn't blown away, the wife was less impressed rating it as average.Feels like the right ingredients are there for a pub dining experience but they are pulled together with the right energy.

The food is really good, especially the burger that has a hint of smokiness to the patty. We also had the “deconstructed” banoffee pie. The banana ice cream is a stroke of genius!!!

We have dined here a few times and also have just enjoyed drinks.A rare find this gorgeous, quintessential village pub offers a fantastic menu with dishes to die for and an atmosphere you simply can’t get enough of.Step back in time in the restaurant with candle sticks and silverware or the bar with pictures and an atmosphere you’d expect in a beautiful rural village.

This was the worst pub meal I have ever had. Booked table in restaurant for 6pm. On arrival told restaurant was closed and we were shown to a small cold, dark room with 3 tables. Ordered Prosecco, it arrived warm and without fizz. The waitress said she would pour it into a colder glass. Still it wasn’t cold and still no fizz. £9. I didn’t drink it, too horrible. I ordered the soufflé. A grey, flabby, stretchy thing arrived in a sweet white sauce, quite inedible. They did deduct this from the bill. I ordered the burger. Slightly better though came with a burnt, acrid smell which was still on my hands when I got home. The burger seemed to have something of everything they had in the kitchen piled on to it, each concoction tasting sweet and unpleasant. When I eventually found the meat, it was ok apart from the acrid smell. The bun was very cold, had clearly just been taken out of the freezer when the order was given to the kitchen. I could not eat the meal. The waitresses were nice and pleasant and very apologetic. What has happened to The Martins Arms, or was this just a very bad night? Disappointing and infuriating in equal measure, why do food if you can’t get a competent chef?
