Derby Road Group Practice

Cannot speak more highly of this gp practice that I have recently enrolled with. They were brilliant when my 86 year old MiL was very poorly and recently my husband and myself have required medical treatments which I can only say the carenavs and reception staff have been more than helpful. Perhaps a few other surgeries not too far away should take a leaf from Derby Roads practice.

Use to be a great surgery but not so much now , can never get through to book an appointment , e consult I’m sure is permanently switched off , can’t get a blood test here anymore , inconvenient to travel to QA or St Mary’s for this if you don’t have a car , such a shame what’s happening here.

I Have been a patient at this practice since Dr Alawale closed & moved his practice in to Derby Road Practice. They have implemented a stupid service where you must book an appointment on the day & can't pre-book an appointment for the following day.My 10yr old daughter has a very bad infection in her right knee & can't walk & still can't be seen at 8.30am when we drove in.We were on hold since 8am & drove from school & was still on hold at the Dr's 30mins later. Their new system is stupid especially if your sick & can't get an appointment. If I could give a -10 I would as its gone to the toilets with the way it works.

These are the very very best doctors surgery in the whole of Portsmouth and everyone within this practice are superb and I can’t praise them all enough

New to the surgery and really impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the team. Positive experience so far and they listen and respond quickly despite the difficulties and pressures faced by GP's and their colleagues.

Absolutely horrendous. I’ve been seeking treatment for about 5 months now regarding skin issues. At this point I can’t eat because I have food intolerance but can’t quite figure what. As of now I have wounds on my palms and feet and boils all over my body. I can’t walk properly or go to work. Anytime I go to the clinic they just take pictures and give me topical steroids(Clobetasol propionate). Whenever I raise an issue about the steroids bleaching me they say it’s not steroids am on but only a moisturiser. I sought treatment with minor skin condition but now it’s worse than it was. They won’t listen when I suggest the probable cause.

Poor quality service unfortunately.I drove 3 hours after a night shift to get to my appointment today, booked myself in at the self check in and was directed towards the upstairs waiting area. After waiting for an hour I went back down to the reception desk to ask if someone was aware I was waiting as I’d seen people arriving after me and being called in.I was then told that my appointment had been cancelled that morning. I had been sent a text with this which I didn’t see as I was driving to my appointment.I explained my circumstances but was told NO. No one could see me for another week.And not to mention this was all a formality anyway as what I actually needed was a referral. A formality which I was happy to comply with as I understand there are protocols. But this is just ridiculous.I’ve been met with the same obstacles every time I’ve tried to get help with a problem at this practice.I understand that there can be cancellations and staff may call in sick and so on. But why was the system not updated and I was made to wait another hour for nothing; why could they not accommodate seeing me given all the circumstances; or at least organise the referral without seeing me if they weren’t able to see me and convince themselves that I needed the referral.I understand and I respect the system. Today however, and sadly many other times, it has worked against me.

It would be better if we werent greeted by empty waiting rooms,and then expected to wait twenty mins to be seen! You cant expect to believe surgeries are at full capacity when 9 out of 10 chairs are empty!

Lovely Drs, a far cry from my old surgery. Friendly and polite staff, kind GPs and clean waiting areas. Phone line now has the option to hold place in queue for a call back which is far more efficient. Always try to help as quickly as possible too.
