Stunning location with great views across the Pennines. Great food. Sadly let down cramped and shabby rooms with (in my room) incredibly uncomfortable beds. Also a surprise" deposit of £100 to cover damages

Disappointing stay, me and my wife got married here 14 years ago and decided to come for our anniversary. The rooms are quite shabby and in dire need of some upgrading, public areas could do with attention as well. There is no restaurant as such, just laminated menus in the bar area and pub grub as such, my wife had the chicken kebab which was pathetic in portion size and quality, certainly not a good dining experience. Breakfast was confusing with a sign asking to help yourself to the buffet? No such buffet existed, side plates on the table and spoons for cereal but no offer of toast, juice or cereal. Certainly not a FULL English but the cooked part was of good quality. Wouldn't stay again or recommend at all, gone right downhill which is a real shame.

Lovely clean and comfortable, breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Good location with beautiful views. Car parking ample and service lovely.

Loved this place. Great staff and no fuss. Slightly quirky decor which I liked. Tired of grey hotels. Very comfortable room and excellent facilities. Evening meal was very tasty and trendy too. Breakfast was very good and the young staff serving were very efficient. So good we are hoping to go back this week.

Excellent place to visit and dine. Had afternoon tea today, couldn't be bettered anywhere. Large selection of freshly made sandwiches, pork pie, sausage rolls and quiche. Great scones with cream and jam. Unlimited tea and coffee. Followed by a good selection of cakes. Friendly and very attentive staff. Nice, airy dining room with good views of the countryside. Highly recommended for a visit. Will be back again.

Rooms are in direct need of a paint job , bathroom was run down looking but clean. Beds fresh . Service was great friendly staff. Location good for walkers and stunning views. Parking good. They take a £100 deposit in case n of damage which was odd considering paint in our room looked like people had been rubbing shoes along it and dripping tea .

A lovely sandstone building on one of the highest points around. Amazing views and lovely rooms. Breakfast and dinner available. A little remote though. Staff are always friendly and helpful. For a contractor working away from home it was a lovely break from the premiere Inns and Traveloges of the world.
