Car Hire Hebrides (Stornoway Town/Ferry)

Great service, competitive prices (given the geography), and a low-mileage car. Plus the staff was an absolute joy to work with! By far the easiest and least-stressful car renting experience I've ever had. Cannot recommend them enough!

We rented a car from Car Hire Hebrides for our two-week trip around Scotland. We visited many beautiful places! It was a fantastic adventure. The car was delivered to us at the bus station in Inverness in perfect condition. We had no issues upon return either. The Peugeot 3008 GT car performed excellently. No breakdowns, high comfort, and convenience. I highly recommend it!

Good car, delivered on time, friendly service. However, we booked a one-way hire from Barra to Stornoway. I booked on the phone, agreed the price (quite high for the one-way charge) and paid. The confirmation email set out the break down of the charges. All good. On collection, I was told I’d have to return the vehicle with a full tank, ie paying for the fuel used on the way down to deliver the car. This was never mentioned anywhere and I couldn’t see anything in the Ts & Cs. I asked about it and they said it’s mentioned on the website. True, but not at all obvious, and it should have been detailed on the confirmation email. Beware of the hidden extra.

I could not wish for better. Booking out-of-hours via Facebook was easy, with accurate helpful descriptions of vehicles available. At Stornoway Airport all went impressively efficiently and everyone was helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The Toyota Yaris Hybrid coped comfortably and easily taking 3 or 4 adults exploring 282 miles around some wild and hilly parts of Harris and Lewis. Car Hire Hebrides was excellent - thank you -we'll be back!

I returned the car and had hardly used any fuel. I was charged £14 for diesel and they took £24 on top of that as a punishment. £38 - the same as the original cost of the hire. I will try not to use them again. I have lost any trust in them.

Carhire !! Are a wonderful car rental company . Kiki and his coworker helped me with a car rental when my other booking couldn’t find my booking but afterwards, I found it and forward it . Stornoway Vehicle Hire said they had no knowledge but I had the email and proof of payment. It seemed that the owner was on holiday and no cars were available .Kiki went beyond his job , he gave the car a quick wash and told us a few places that would great to visit . When I come back, I will definitely rent from them again . Thank you Kiki for making our first trip wonderful .

Ideally located at the ferry terminal if you arrive by ferry or cruise ship. Car was in immaculate condition. Check-out and check-in were both handled professionally and correctly.

Great service (everything done by the book, perhaps unlike other car hire operators on the island), reasonably priced and a nice car to explore Lewis and Harris.Would recommend and will return to these guys.

We had an amazing welcome and great service from the team in Stornoway, from their greeting, admin and suggested routes to where the local fuel stations were to be found. The car was comfortable, clean and relatively new.Well done to the Team and thank you.

Rented a car for 2 days at a cost of £150. We covered the car in blankets for our dogs and made sure to hoover it thoroughly before handing back. The staff member was in the car park waiting when we arrived ant the terminal and he saw the dogs so he automatically added on an extra £100 valeting fee. There was not a dog hair in that car but he insisted on the extra charge. Would not recommend. Seemed like they wanted any excuse to charge extra money.
