Lovely food. Varied menu. Beautiful place.Staff very pleasant.Just stopped off for a meal. Must be very nice to stay there.

A lovely impromptu lunch, everything was really good. The only slight criticism would be the limited number of mains on the lunch menu ( only 3 ) I think the lunch menu should be presented separately to the main menu as seeing the main menu is a sort of this is what you could have had "This will not stop me returning ."

High quality everything! Really pleasant. You will pay for it but if quality and being comfortable is what you want then don't hesitate. Dog friendly rooms also available and are no less pleasant. Rooms with features for the less ambulant are readily available with all the appropriate fittings. Super

Great staff. Breakfast was incredible, latte, fruit, croissant, eggs, bacon, toast, juice. I had the fish and chips for dinner and it was the best fish and chips I have had so far. Rooms were very comfortable, well lit and ventilated. The design of the place is outstanding, with a library, lounge areas and open bar. If The Fleece was closer to a town, it would be packed every night but The Fleece is located about 3 miles from the nearest town. Meaning you can't go wandering very far before you run out of things to do.

Had a 2 night stay to spoil my partner which was a real nice treat for both of us. A very good night's sleep no road traffic noise which was a bonus eould definitely recommend in my opinion the only thing that let it down for me was the evening menu.

We visited here for one night in August. A welcoming view after a day of travelling, well presented on the outside, electric car charger points, an easily accessible carpark. The reception follows on with this, well presented & friendly, happy staff. Our room was very clean, a nice high standard of bed, fixtures & fittings including a coffee pod machine, a nice extra. The bathroom is also of a good standard with a large shower with multiple jets, a modern free standing bath, although the bath wasn't fixed to the floor so just moved around if you touched it, a well lit mirror & basin.We arranged a booking for breakfast the next morning. After heading into the restaurant at our pre-arranged time there was nobody to meet us on entry, so we found an empty table amongst the other 3 groups of guests & waited. Two different staff came through, served other guests, brought more guests into the restaurant & completely ignored us. We made eye contact with both staff & neither came over or acknowledged our presence. We left shortly after this & headed back to the room. Upon checkout the manager was at reception & did ask if everything had been okay & we let him know what happened & he said the staff had mentioned to him that they thought they'd 'lost' someone & there was a miscommunication. Hmmmm. To be fair to him he was very apologetic, even though I did say it wasn't his fault. He refunded us for the meal as a good will gesture which we were thankful for. After reading other reviews I see service in the restaurant is an ongoing issue.Overall our stay was a pleasant one, the building, fittings & standard is very good. The staff we saw at reception were great & very helpful. Unfortunately the staff we saw in the restaurant were far from great & this is reflected in our rating. We would definitely stay again although we wouldn't use the restaurant unless things markedly improved.

Lovely hotel. Staff are excellent, great menu and good produce. Rooms and facilities are superb, really enjoy visiting The Fleece. Have been several times and we always get a warm welcome

The hotel is beautiful, set in a quiet area but easy access to Carlisle and Scotland. The rooms were delightful. The bar was very relaxing with comfortable sofas and a roaring fire. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. A great find.

Booked The Fleece as a last minute decision while travelling and it was fantastic! Beautiful rooms, delicious food and lovely staff. Will definitely be back and already recommended to others. Thank you.
