Very poor experience having paid over £2000 to stay in a very small cottage I was astonished to receive a very rude phone call from the owner on my journey home accusing me of taking hand soap, and that I may be charged for it. I would not expect to have to pay for this kind of item at a so called 5 star property…

Terrible Cancellation SchemeBe warned - I cancelled my trip 3 months ahead of time and still had to pay 30% of the trip - £1,100!Won't be using the service again

Have used Boutique Retreats for family holidays. The properties are always high quality and we have always been impressed by the standard of cleanliness. Will certainly be using them again in the future.

We used Boutique Retreats for our summer holiday (2022) and can't fault them. Their communication and customer service was first rate and they couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed in Chantry Cottage in the Cotswolds and were blown away by this property; stunning, secluded and full of character and history! It was well equipped, beautifully styled, decorated and maintained, and the owner was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommended in all aspects, thank you.

We booked an amazing house through Boutique retreats for a stay in the Isle of Skye in September. The house was absolutely stunning and lived up to all the photos we saw. Beautifully decorated, well stocked kitchen and great location. It was exactly as described. There were some lovely touches like the starter pack and our only question during the stay was answered quickly by the host.There are some other stunning looking properties on their website and we will definitely be booking again! Thank you for living up to our expectations - so many companies don't these days.

Do not book Avery cottage in Newton Ferrers. Between the construction next door, the crowds, and the dirty and unkempt (detached) outdoor seating area, oh and the mold growing in the bathroom, this overpriced cottage agency is simply outrageous. Do not book with Boutique Retreats. Far from luxurious.

Just returned from a week away at Widemouth bay in your property “Dune”….This is a fabulous house, in an excellent position for the beach and very well set out. There was 8 adults + 1 dog and we had so much space. All bedrooms set out well other than the downstairs room had no mirror. Kitchen well stocked with all equipment needed and outside a large bbq to use. Plenty of outdoor seating and large fully enclosed garden for dogs so no worrying of them escaping. Everywhere clean and tidy, lovely welcome box of immediate necessities on arrival. We had requested a stair gate to stop dog from going upstairs which was not there but after a phone call it was immediately sorted by the house keeper. Just a couple of things I think needed - more info on kitchen equipment ( how to use oven/microwave etc), info on when to put the bins out for collection as they had not been emptied on our arrival so when we left we had to leave the full bin bags on the ground and the freezer door not sealing properly so was getting very iced up. Large mirror required in the downstairs bedroom. I fully recommend this property as it was superb and we all had a wonderful time - thank you!

Don’t waste your money. Our stay was nothing like the pictures. When we called to switch to a different location, they kept us waiting for three days before they let us know they couldn’t switch us. Apparently they work with a third party and act as intermediaries. Don’t book with Boutique retreats and stick with Airbnb! (For reference: we booked Avery cottage in Newton Ferrers)

We stayed at Smugglers in Cornwall, booked via boutique retreats.I left a review with boutique retreats, though naturally they only published the glowing parts, which most of it was.There was one negative at the bottom which didn’t make its way into my review on their website which was to highlight the terrible access road that you really should be aware of if going to this property as it could present a real problem and even damage the underside of your car if not tackled correctly.The website does warn you that there’s 400m of rough farm track but I don’t think it goes far enough, it’s not just a little bumpy, some of it is almost impassable in your average vehicle and we were forced onto the grassy bank to get round the craters in the road. An excellent property once there but it’s fair to warn you what to expect. Take the access road extremely carefully, as in 2-3mph careful if you don’t want to damage your car.Full review is:Great for peace and seclusion. The location of smugglers is perfect if you want peace and quiet and access to the great outdoors.The uninterrupted views across Bodmin Moor are impressive and we enjoyed watching the wildlife which included lambs, ponies, swifts and buzzards.The cabin itself is tastefully decorated and well equipped with things like board games, jigsaw puzzles, binoculars and a telescope. The kitchen is also well equipped.Bed was comfy and the bathroom was particularly impressive - lovely double bath and spacious rainfall shower, kept cosy with the underfloor heating.Everything was cleaned to a high standard throughout.We found this a good base location for walking and for visiting the surrounding areas with many of the coastal towns just a short drive away.But speaking of the drive, the access road leading up to it is terrible, there’s about 400 meters of very rough track that you couldn’t call a road, prepare to have to drive 2-3mph unless you have an SUV or the like, but for your average car, you have been warned!On the whole, a lovely place with great views, we had a thoroughly relaxing break despite bad weather.
