Baby Steps with Amy - Doula & Maternity Nurse

Having Amy around to help with Matilda is a true blessing. Whether it’s for advice, reassurance or to have a couple of hours to myself I know my baby is in the safest, kindest hands and I can totally relax knowing she is being well looked after.Her passion for caring for babies is crystal clear and I feel very lucky to have her.

Amy is like a modern day Mary Poppins - she literally swoops in to save the day. As a new first-time single Mum, Amy really helped me gain confidence in those first crucial weeks. She was incredibly supportive, never judgemental and always so positive and encouraging, even when I felt like I was failing. I also liked the way she spoke to my son and how well he responded to her.Amy is very trustworthy; I felt comfortable leaving her with my newborn whilst I had a nap or got on with all the things I couldn’t do when I was alone. She’s also competent and knowledgable, helping me with his sleep, giving feeding and breastfeeding advice, sharing evidence based guidance including how best to keep him safe. Last but not least, she provided practical help around the house while my son was sleeping - from lighting the fires, sterilising the bottles through to cleaning the washing machine filter! Nothing was too much trouble for her. On several occasions I called her when I was at the end of my tether and she immediately came round to help.The home cooked meals and cakes she made me were the absolute treat I needed on days I hadn’t had a chance to cook or eat properly. Above all, Amy is very kind and compassionate. She’s personable, reliable and thoughtful and if I hadn’t have met her as a maternity nurse, she’s someone I would like to call my friend. She’s the perfect role model to be around children. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.
