Castle Corner Carpark, for Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve

Great place for a break and leg stretch. The castle is also wonderful

Had a great day visiting the reserve, saw many species of birds from the hides was especially pleased that it was wheel chair accessible with many level paths. Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice gift shop.

There are at least four carparks that give onto walks around the Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve. This is the first from the Glencapel direction and most easily reached directly from the main road. There is space for about 16 cars. On foot from here there is about a mile of woodland walks before reaching a birdhide and the start of the reedbed boardwalk to Hollands (2 more miles). Alternatively you can continue the walk through to Caerlaverock Castle (1 more mile). A longer walk will take you through to the Nature Reserve car park. Lots of signs giving information about routes, and frequent benches to enjoy the views.
