Nice little wood park

This is a nice little secondary woodland which forms a narrow barrier between Cymbeline Meadows and the railway. You can see and hear the railway much of the time. It's a welcome leafy spot to visit on hot days and for a muddy stomp with the dog.There's quite a bit of litter from the railway and debris from visitors. It's close to an area of high density housing so is well visited and used.The woodland itself would benefit from a little more active management. The trees have been planted in very close together and would now benefit from thinning. The woodland floor lacks diversity or feature. Being a newly planted space (relatively) there isn't a great deal of tree stump or deadwood, mostly leaves, nettles and the odd beer can!However, it's wonderful it's there and it's a haven for woodpeckers, tree creepers etc. We've spotted kingfishers by the river, sighted red kites in the meadow from the wood's edge. There's muntjack, woodmice and I've heard (but not seen) badgers. In spring there's daffodils and in autumn fungi. Being close to the Colne, which flows nearby, there's bats and dragonflies.For those who look for the following: there's no amenities (cafe, loo, car park etc) and it's not wheelchair accessible (kissing gate entrances and exits, steps down through tunnel under railway, uneven paths). There is a dog poo bin at the tunnel entrance/exit which appears to be emptied regularly. No regular bins within the woodland.

FUN PARK (it is located near north station Colchester. We can walk for 10 min from station to get to the location). It placed in Charter woods.

Such a lovely quiet walk.Bit muddy at moment so be careful.

My favourite place to walk the dog, such a beautiful location and usually quiet.
