If you are someone interested in Dundee's history then this is the perfect place for you. All credits go to the Dundee city council for maintaining this burial ground so nicely. This burial ground was established in 1564 and the majority of graves face exactly due east. The burial ground contains a high number of Roman-style coffee tombs. Burials at the Howff include the architect Samuel Bell and James Chalmers- inventor of the adhesive postage stamp. The Burial ground is just opposite the DC Thompson's building.

My husband was helping to survey the graveyard with a team of volunteers from the conservation team. Beautiful place of calm with interesting gravestones and history.

A tiny ancient graveyard in the middle of Dundee. There are some amazing old gravestones here. Some of them are in great condition considering the age of them.My visit here had be doing some research on the skull and crossbones on a number of the stones.A lovely spot of calm in the middle of the city.Well worth a visit.

If you like cemeteries and genealogy (which I do, but I understand that not everyone does), this place is full of peaceful beauty. The sign says it's the second oldest cemetery in Scotland, which is cool. I paid my respects to James Henderson and enjoyed the visit.
