St John's Chapel
Our first experience of a triple decker pulpit : the preacher preached from the top, the Word was read from the second level and the clerk would lead the singing of the Psalms from the bottom pulpit. A simple style of building, with a gallery on three sides.

Another church no longer in regular use - architecturally interesting, but a touch soulless in my opinion. However, if you're passing by it is worth visiting...

Chapel built in 1813, that looks just like a old Methodist or Presbyterian chapel, but it's not. It's CofE, With an odd commercial foundation, and an odd segregation of the wealthy and poor (then), that wouldn't have escaped denouncing by Jesus. It's free, it's quiet. If church or social history interests you, or you need a bit of P&Q, give it a short visit.

A fascinating place. If you are interested in history there is a lot to learn here, and if you are in Chichester it's worth finding it, just a short distance from the main shopping area but a world away atmospherically.
