Niddrie Medical Practice

The reception staff within this practice are absolutely unnecessary. If I was in charge of the practice, I’d have them replaced with automated services for a more cost effective, smoother and easier experience. The staff in reception are too busy sitting around to actually bother or show a single ounce of care for patients. These guys ought to be ashamed of themselves because they run and jump and make sure the experience their friends and family receive at the practice are of a top notch quality however anyone else is just a hassle and a bother and they don’t want to help you at all (which honestly is extremely terrible, quality of care shouldn’t be dependent on whether or not you know/or are related to someone in reception). Shameful and a waste of funding. It’s a real sorry affair because the Doctors in this practice are fantastic and do a brilliant job whilst the staff in reception give the practice a bad name.

It took the receptionists over a year to get my records right and address me by the correct name. Utterly ridiculous.

it would appear that this medical group and Craigmiller have the worst reputation in Edinburgh. Channel 4 are doing a documentary on the worst medical practices in Edinburgh.

Receptionists on phone are terribly rude and don't care about anyones problems. I am in the process of moving GP surgery due to this. Since I joined the surgery 7 years ago I have experienced years of lack of care and negligence by receptionists who ARE NOT medical professionals yet act as if they have a medical degree!!

I feel happy about being registered here, as before the Covid hit, I was able to book appointments and received the treatment that I needed. Recently, one of my sons was unwell and I was able to book in an appointment for the same day and receive treatment. I feel like the staff are doing a very good job with regards to children as it was on multiple occasions when we received help when we needed it, such as referrals etc. and even follow up calls form doctor to see how the condition was improving.On the other hand, I am not able to book an appointment for myself at the moment as it's not classed as emergency, and I appreciate that it's due to Covid and staff shortage. Yes, sometimes the waiting times are far too long, but at least you are seen by someone and are being given help that you need.

Dr Chris Cronin is a fantastic doctor. He is very kind and patient. Also, he did really good assessment and even educated me how to get out of bed under huge back pain.

Anytime I visit with my mum for her health and maintenance of her COPD always greeted with warmth and respect

I think these guys are brilliant and some of the other reviews are total rubbish!!. Staff always so helpful at reception and all nurses etc lovely. I am kind and nice and they are nice back in a very stressful environment. They go above and beyond to help me in alot of tricky situations that can be difficult given my care is between England and Scotland. my medical condition is tricky so there is not much a GP can do but the surgery as a whole IE the reception staff/nursing staff etc I have alot of interaction with and they have been nothing but amazing to me and my fiance!! Could not recommend enough. Dr McCallum has Ben my GP for years and soooo compassionate which is essential and not a trait in all GPs. Ithanks for everything
