Fairways Nursing Home
My father was admitted to Fairways in March for so called end of life care within 3 weeks we were told that they couldn't cope with him and they would have to move him to there other home on Anglesey that specialised in dementia care, So the matron from that home came out to assess him and promptly told us no they couldn't take him as they didn't have enough staff so he had to stay where he was and clearly not wanted, We visited him twice a week for the 3 months he was there, I lost count of the amount of times he was in his chair in the communal room when we walked in slumped forwards nearly falling out of his chair with the so called nurse sitting at a table with her back to him clearly not caring at all about the people supposedly in her care also he suddenly started getting a lot of injuries cuts very bad bruises etc which he never got while at home and we were told he fell or he did it to himself this was bad enough but we had to keep asking for the plasters to be changed as they clearly hadn't been as we constantly found them blood soaked with days old dry blood also on them and his wounds weeping badly,Fairways Trearddur on Anglesey was is supposed to be a nursing home what a joke it's at best a poor care home,My father passed away on the 30th of May while I was on holiday supposedly in him sleep who knows all I do know is his last few months of life were a misery with the way he was treated and to cap it all when we went to Fairways to pick up his belongings they were just all thrown into a box his picture frames broken his ornaments broken clothes that weren't even his to say I am fuming is an understatement.

Fairways Nursing Home
If you’re reading this then you’re either inquisitive or your life has just changed forever. Has a loved one been given a terminal diagnosis like our Dad? Or may be a Dementia sufferer like our Mum. No one tells you where to look. Maybe social worker at hospital or at Council ? Or a neighbours aunt or Taid went somewhere years ago ???????Our parents where obviously going to a) live forever with no ailments b) die peacefully in their sleep at allotted time c) no flipping idea ??None of the above happened. This is my review of Fairways Treaddur Bay and Fairways Newydd Llanfair PG. if you’ve read this far then you’ll realise these nursing care homes are what you need for your loved one. They’re bi-lingual too. Staff Cymro a Seasneg.Fairways in Treaddur Bay became the place that you’d give end of life care to our Dad. He was a strange EOL patient as he looked pretty well abs was up and about most days chatting to all the residents . Dad had advanced heart failure and was given 6 weeks to live - he actually lived 13 ! But because of covid this was a blessing and a curse . We couldn’t see him except through a glass door with microphone for set periods of time or not at all. Covid was rife everywhere in Feb 21 so it was tough on everyone but especially the staff at Fairways Treaddur Bay. Leslie and her team are incredible, they made Dad feel so welcome and comfortable. When the end came it was difficult for everyone to accept he was actually dying as he’d bounced back each time but die he did on a stormy night 23/02/21.Fairways Newydd accepted our Mum as a patient with barely any notice, she was being mistreated at another care home and we needed Fairways Family to come to our rescue again . Fairways Newydd was better suited for Mums needs with vascular Dementia. She’d been traumatised deeply by what she’d experienced in the preceding 7 months at another elderly residential home. As we’d become self funding by now we learnt that Mum didn’t need anything to move homes. Jodie, Emma and the team of angels (that’s what I call them ) embraced Mum with love, care, kindness and best of all a plan to get her eating properly again. The GP assigned to FN was superb and Mum recognised him from her years of service at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Suffering from Vascular Dementia is very different from Alzeimhers, whereas the patient has lucid moments even days then total confusion maybe for days . Sometimes episodes would happen in minutes or hours too - not knowing my full name but the next she’d know date time place I was married ! Unfortunately despite valiant efforts by all Mum gave up her fight to live - her Dementia and confusion deepened as her weigh loss happened . In the relative short time Mum was at FN she made an impact on staff - they loved chatting to her about her years in the hospital, she had her hair coloured her favourite purple and styled regularly, even mani & pedicures.!! She may have chosen not to fight BUT no one gave up on her. A couple of weeks before her death when the GP & nursing team changed her care regime, the real kindness & comfort shone through . I hope mum could hear the tales the staff would share with her - I and my sister where allowed to visit (with all the LFD COVID PPE tests) but not limited to times. Mum passed away , with dignity, with out pain or discomfort, surrounded with love and care. Isn’t that the death we all wish one day??THANK YOU FAIRWAYS NEWYDD FOR TRULY OUTSTANDING CARE, ABOVE & BEYOND KINDNESS AND ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL. Diolch .We have huge regret that we didn’t know about the differences in Care & Nursing establishments. The different policies and attitudes of admitting elderly to covid filled hospitals when all they required was monitoring in a safe place .Ask loads of questions? Are you and ALL YOUR team either qualified and/or trained in dealing with these types of patients? Some say they care for Dementia patients when in reality they offer elderly care
