Invicta Hotel
Quaint family run hotel in a brilliant location. Breakfasts were cooked to order and very nice even if the breakfast room feels a little cramped. The service was good, very personal but the hotel feels a little past it's best. The decor tired and the carpets somewhat worn. Cleanliness was acceptable considering the age of the bathroom. I understand that a family run business may struggle to make investment but I would have given higher marks if the price reflected better the condition of the rooms.

We had a couple of issues but spoke with staff and all was sorted to our satisfaction. We stayed here primarily to visit our granddaughter at university. They allowed us to bring her here for breakfast. All very pleasant and central to where we wanted to be. Will recommend to anyone else looking for accommodation within walking distance of the university, the coast, town centre and the Plymouth Gin factory.

We stayed here on a golf trip. Nice clean room & hotel, free high speed WiFi, friendly informative staff, bed very comfy, and a great breakfast. Had absolutely no problems during our stay and would definitely stay again.

Lovely converted Victorian building close to the Barbican. Refurbished rooms are very tastefully presented with all that you might need. A little dust on some ledges but nothing to get hung up about. The bed was huge (2 singles together) and comfortable. Hot water was instant. Staff were friendly and welcoming.Despite being a listed building, the presentation is classical yet modern and quirky in places but very acceptable. However don't expect a lift to floors!

Had a decent stay here a few nights ago. They were very helpful and efficient taking my last minute booking and the service I had from all staff was great. Because the building is quite old and doesn't have a lift (which is specified I am aware) getting up to the 3rd floor with a bag is very very tricky. The stairs are extremely narrow and steep. The rooms are stuffy and feel old. The furniture and furnishings both in the rooms and the passage ways feel old and outdated. There was a lot of dust on top of my cupboard in my room as well. The location of the hotel is fantastic and the breakfast experience was really great and I really felt like the food was of the highest quality.Overall an average experience but I believe there could be small changes made to the hotel to make it better. I believe there are better places to stay at for this price.

Positives: when we first arrived there was a slight mix up on beds. Lady was very accommodating and sorted this out for us.Lovely breakfast and clean hotel.Negative: the issues started on the second night when heating was broken and we were told someone had been out to look at it. They gave us a plug in oil radiator to carry up three flights of stairs to our room. And we're told to let them know in the morning if there had been a problem. This is not an ideal response, as we were leaving in the morning anyway and meant if the oil radiator didn't work too well we would be stuck in a cold room all night? No mention of a potential change of rooms or reimbursement for a room not fit for purpose, and not entirely receiving what we had paid for. To top it all off, we also found a plug with half the socket missing and electricals exposed. This is entirely unacceptable, and dangerous! On a lesser negative note, the shower pressure was extremely weak in this room so we would recommend avoiding the top floor of this hotel as at present is not fit for purpose regardless of how much you paid for it.

Nice place, lovely breakfast. Our room was on 3rd floor up some very steep stairs. Our bathroom had no soap or shampoo and only a 25% toilet roll. Toilet seat was loose.

We had a nice big downstairs room with a king size bed, separate shower and WC. The breakfast was freshly cook and excellent. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We paid 5 pounds for parking which meant we could park at the rear of the property . I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We were lucky enough to find the Invicta when searching for our wedding reception venue last year. Having looked at lots of the more well known venues we were feeling deflated by the huge price tags and inflexible menus and packages. Betty and Roy at the Invicta completely tailored our day to suit our budget and needs. Everything that we asked for was delivered above and beyond. We requested food and drinks that were special to us, but not typically found at the hotel. Betty and Roy sourced everything for us with a smile. The day of the wedding was completely stress free, the room was set up perfectly for us and all of our guests were greated with a smile and a glass of bubbly. Would highly highly recommend the Invicta to anyone searching for a highly personalised yet affordable wedding reception venue in Plymouth.
