Chelmsford City Racecourse

A great evening out - Helpful staff on hand to guide you round. Easy to watch the start and finish of races. Good food for all tastes available. I will be going back again, if only to see my horse finish.

First time visit. Sports Bar building excellent, tote ladies excellent customer service, BETFRED staff excellent communication, bar staff no communication at all, The Grill Kitchen very disappointing- long queues with 40 minute waiting then a further 40 minute for cooking and if you just want hot drinks it is the same queue and then the food is very poor - I saw 3 orders being returned and that included mine- best eat before you go. Highly recommended Racecourse. Highly recommended Sports Bar. Do not recommend The Grill Kitchen or Bar.

Staff very welcoming, good information given as to where you need to go. We sat in the main restaurant, unless you are sat at the window you could not see the horses running you had to leave the restaurant area.Waiting staff at the tables was poor we waited 20 minutes before we were offered a drink and staff where walking around offering bread and butter we had to ask for some as it was not offered. They were young and in my opinion were inexperienced

Great day out once again. Second visit and my wife and I did ladies day. Lovely day, the staff were very pleasant and the post racing entertainment first rate once again. Looking forward to our next outing.

Great venue and had a really enjoyable afternoon here. But why is everything so chaotic? We enjoyed the Fairwood Brasserie, the food was excellent and it was great to have a private table where we could just nip out to the finishing straight. The staff were super friendly, when you could find them. Our table service was virtually non-existent and when we tried to get drinks from the bar, they wouldn’t serve us either! Paying the bill was also pretty chaotic as nobody came to the table, couldn’t pay at the bar, they had one till for an entire restaurant. No cab rank either, a collection bay no rank so we had to cross an incredibly busy road to get to Great Leigh’s village just to get picked up. I really hope this venue can expand and move forwards but they seriously need to invest in staff if this is to happen. Must try harder!

Firework night at the Racecourse. Thousands of people there, of course, but excellent stewards to ensure safety inside and in car park. Long queues for food all evening but good-natured. A couple more rides for 6-10 year olds would be good.Fireworks were EXCELLENT.

Just back home from the tuesday 21st nov meeting.We booked the sports bar, great assistance from the main entrance guy's as mum was in a wheelchair, easy access for her and the rest of us all evening. Free food on a voucher is always a worry, it was spot on as the first drink was free as well, thanks to all the staff from entrance to bar for a fantastic experience.

Booked an afternoon of racing and buffet. The cost £65pp for entrance, race card and food. Drinks extra.Food was excellent and plentiful. Helpful staff and tote runners. Would go again, good fun, just a shame I backed all the 3 legged ones!

Sang there with the choir New City Voices. Had a great evening raising money for Barrow Farm Riding for the Disabled. Looked after very well by all the staff
