Great Grog Newington

Was inspired by John to eat a piece of cheese with some cream sherry.Enjoyed a fine dram of Lagavulin 16 and a cerebral mezcal with Fraser.Despite these stoic acts of heroism, Barney is the true MVP of the store, always pointing me towards bottles I would've never have looked at if it weren't for him.Whatever the occasion, great grog is the place to stop. Wedding? Gobillard. Funeral? Gobillard. Birthday? Gobillard.Thinking grog? Think great grog.

Top notch choice of excellent beer and wine available with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Pop in, you won't regret it!

Just driving past today I spotted the shop and decided to pop in. Was greeted by the lovely Fraser who was more helpful than I could have hoped for recommending beers and wines based on one's I had already tried. Absolutely great guy! Will 100% be driving over from Glasgow to visit again!

Excellent range of stock. Prices are perfectly competitive. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Sometimes a sweet doggy to say hello to!

Great selection of beers wines and spirits as well as some great music the tall lad was playing, big Eagles fan. Thinking of asking him to DJ my wedding.

A nice independent bottle shop. They've got a great range of Scottish and wider UK craft beers. They also have a good selection of German and Belgian beers, as well as rotating stock of imported beer.Also have a wide wine selection and a few spirits. But I've only been for the beer.Staff are friendly and helpful

I've been shopping at Great Grog for the better part of 10 years now, ever since I moved to the city. I can honestly say it's my favourite wine shop in Edinburgh and I still pop in for a nice bottle or two every so often. Over the past 10 years the quality has never dropped and the selection has in fact only expanded and diversified. An ample selection of high quality wines at really fantastic, competitive prices (some wine shops in the city can be silly money - not so with Great Grog).I've always recommended this shop to friends and, in particular, the range of Champagne - which is both affordable and of superb quality.The staff are always friendly and really knowledgeable about the wines and beers. I've had some great recommendations from them in the past and I really trust their judgement.Frankly, it's really hard to beat this place.

Really nice shop, very good selection and advice ! We wanted to bring back local beers and they have a lot of them(Also, there was a very cute dog which is a plus ❤️)
