We had a fab time here, great spot for short journeys to Lancaster, Lake District, Blackpool, Chester. The apartment/cottage was great and spacious. Swimming pool was heated and good. Grounds lovely. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant too. Our 3 kids, 11, 12 and 13 said they would return and wish we could stay longer.

If you want solitude this may be for you but it is way out in the country. You have to go down some treacherous 1 lane routes to get there. Had to put it in reverse several times to let other cars by. Rooms are spacious but very dated. Dinner shuts down early. We were not able to eat there. The Stork Hotel up the way is pretty good food. Sheep wake you in the morning. The church on past the place at the dead end seems haunted.

Beautiful location. Wonderful rooms. Excellent service. The place was very festive with an excellent piano player in the main hall in the evening. The food was fantastic.

Really nice and peaceful 3 night stay at Thurnham Hall. Our Studio apartment was a great size and very well equipped, with everything you would need. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant which we also really enjoyed. The on site Leisure centre has a nice pool, jacuzzi and gym and the grounds are lovely and well kept. 15 mins from Lancaster, 20 from Morecombe and 40 from Blackpool, if you want to visit any of those places. We would definitely stay here again, highly recommend.

The main house and our suite was a little tired, although our bathroom suite looked new. The bed was comfy. Armchairs well worn. Kitchen in need of an update. Can recommend The Lemon Tree Restaurant as the food and service was very good. A great place to stay for peace and quiet. You certainly need a car to get out and about.

We had a really wonderful stay. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Pool was excellent, clean and great for the kids. Felt relaxed and cosy, great well kept grounds and lots of walks locally, we went down the canal which was an excellent walk. Locally loads to do, not far to the coast and Lancaster had lots of interesting things, castle and Williamson Park were great. We will definitely come again.

Loved our stay at Thurnham hall. We had a 2 bed apartment, all rooms were huge. It was very clean and everything in good order. We were in the traditional building so exposed bricks in living room, pretty little original windows, things aren't perfect but that's to be expected of a property this age. The slanted floors and creaking boards add to its charm.Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery and utensils, toaster, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, oven n hob.Only thing we found it missed was an oven tray, but there is a large casserole type dish that we managed to make do with.Had sponge, dish soap, tea towel and essential sachets of salt, pepper, sugar, tea bags, coffee for the machine(filter).Staff were lovely, it's very peaceful, a little out of the way but we had the car so no issue and only a short drive to many places. There are a couple of restaurant options near by. We tried the Mill but were not impressed. Has the lemon tree on site, best to book ahead as gets busy especially at the weekend. There is a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym and spa on site (closed Monday, Tuesday) there is also some garden games, swingball, table tennis, badminton and a large connect4.Loved our stay here, would thoroughly recommend and think we'll be back too.

A lovely old country pile which has been converted into self catering accommodation. My double bedded suite was enormous - with kitchen, lounge and dining area and separate mezzanine bedroom. Stunning views over the country with cows and sheep wandering past the car park. Footpath down to the canal. The only disappointment was that the Spa and Swimming pool close at 6pm - so if you're only staying one night and don't arrive early enough (as I was) you won't get a chance to use it.
