Visited last week with my little one who absolutely loved the play area. Will happily spend £2.50 to play again, She loved it.Sat outside and enjoyed a lovely ham and cheese sandwich and chips, very yummy indeed. The chips are phenomenal!I would like to see more on the menu for toddlers though. The kids menu was a bit pricey in my opinion. But will definitely be back! :)

If you have small children this is a great cafe to visit as they have an extensive outdoor play area for kids. Our lunch was delicious, wholesome, good food served in large portions. The staff were attentive and very helpful.

Cafe Thyme is set in a stunning location, overlooking rolling paddocks giving way to views of the sea, and beyond that to Mull.It is a minutes drive up a well maintained, single track lane, ending in a well sized parking area. From this elevated position the views are sublime, on what was for us, a cloudless, warm, sunny day. There is a large grassed play area, with an assortment of toys for younger children to use, as well as interactive activities for the kids, such as Duplo blocks. There is outdoor seating available too, which was all good quality furniture. Dogs seemed to be welcome.Entrance is gained by passing the front of the cafe and turning right up access steps to the rear, which was slightly confusing as people also seemed to use an access door located nearest the car park side of the cafe. The interior of the cafe is smart, uncluttered and comfortable. Again, there are panoramic views across the distant water. As vegetarians, we were offered plenty of choice from a classy menu, and the Greek salads with pitta breads we selected were fresh, plentiful and delicious. The price was appropriate for the quality of the food. The staff were smart, polite, and welcoming, and exuded a professional, but relaxed, air.The loos were modern and clean. In summary, the location is wonderful, the staff, food and prices excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it based on our experience.Incidentally, there are adjoining shops at the Byre selling clothes and shoes, both worth a look.

Bustling but friendly service, great food, haggis and cheese pide is a fab fusion of Turkish and Scottish cuisine!

I have mixed feelings about this place. I would almost give it 4 stars. It's on the less travelled side of the isle and not very well sign posted. It may be more suitable for parents with kids as they have a sizeable play area. It's nice inside but me and my wife thought it was very bare. I was expecting it to be cosy, but it lacks character. Maybe it's fairly new and they're still working on it? Everything is echoing off the bare walls. The young folk serving us looked as if they didn't want to be there - don't get me wrong they were polite, but looked as if someone forced them to be there. Or maybe they were just tired. I know it's hard work working in a restaurant. Maybe a couple more staff members would make a difference? However, there was also a woman dealing with us and other customers and she was absolutely brilliant. The food was to die for and I'm not joking. I really enjoyed it.I would recommend this place for the food alone as it was a very good experience. The building inside and out, well, it needs work in my opinion. One of the pictures there with the ramp shows the main entrance.I will definietly come back to see how/if it's being developed.

Very full on a Saturday and quite tightly packed inside. Keeping 1.5 m distance quite impossible. Would give max. 4 stars for that, but then everything else is so good: the food, the tea, incredibly friendly staff. Great playground for little and big ones alike. Very family-friendly. Clean toilet.

Visit here every time we are on Arran. Lovely seating inside and outside. The pides are amazing - especially the haggis - and come with plenty of salad.

Lovely café with a menu that has its own character. They also do a range of diverse teas. Very friendly and helpful service and beautiful views across the water to the Mull of Kintyre. There is a large children's play area just in front of the café.
