First time visiting this Waitrose store in Thatcham near Newbury but it will be my last! You have to buy a ticket which will be refunded when you've paid for shopping ( l only wanted 2 items) so l went to the Kiosk it was today (17th April 2023) at 11.00. Two older staff ( women) at Kiosk who just stared at me when l ask for parking ticket to be refunded! Only for them to look down at me and started laughing when they said you have to spend £10.00 ( which l didn't know) l felt so ashamed and embarrassed! These two are lacking in customer service and manners! Shame on Thatcham Waitrose!!

I do not agree with their ratings, is a shame... Called today the branch to get some help with C&C , was my mistake and the staff was really polite she's called Sue from welcome desk and sort out my issue straight away. I didn't have to wait for ages on the phone, very professional, highly customer service, friendly, polite , well done Waitrose Thatcham you are doing an amazing job. Highly recommend Waitrose Thatcham.

Absolutely disgusted by the customer service in this store. While trying to buy one bottle of alcohol with my weekly shop my adult daughter was asked for ID. She was not purchasing the alcohol simply standing next to me. When saying she was 22 but did not have ID on her I was refused purchase of the alcohol even though I was the customer who was paying for it, my daughter was simply stood next to me. Needless to say I will not be going back, no other supermarket carry out this ridiculous policy, and we live in the UK, not a police state so carrying around ID is not necessary. Very poor staff and absolutely disgusting.

I have shopped at this Waitrose since they took it over from Gateway and have only occasionally been disappointed - usually when they run out of something I consider a staple - but, in general, it's well stocked with a good choice of quality goods.I see what people mean about the security staff though: they hover so close they might as well just frisk me. I find it not only rudely intrusive, but offensive and insulting; especially as most of a supermarket's stolen items got out the back door! Set a thief to catch a thief, I suppose.Today, they have cost you two stars; if you don't retrain them to be a little more discreet, they will cost you a customer.

Recognised and greeted by counter staff; particularly like having hand cut fish portions.Recent increase in variety and quantity of plant based/'without ..' products.Nice café for a proper pot of tea, but opening hours may be less than published on their website.

I have had better experience in Sainsbury’s than Waitrose stores in this part of the world. On this occasion a customer came up too close and personal as I was about to pay.The lady at the service till had excellent manners. However, on prior occasions this has not been the case. So sadly a mixed experience (with their Newbury branch too).

Haven't paid to park here in 30 years. Never will as - until now - I've never seen it enforced. Saw it happening today so goodbye Waitrose. I'll go to less scummy Newbury branch where I can shop without bother.

Waitrose is a good place to shop for your groceries and items are usually easy to find. If you can't find what you are looking then ask the staff, they are very helpful.Waitrose is quite tucked away right at the end of the Kingsland Centre, it has a Costa Coffee, start from there and you'll see it straight ahead, but if you don't know the area it's better to ask someone who does. :)
