Barchester - Begbrook House Care Home

The staff are all very friendly, the home manager has been helpful. The home is very clean and would recommend this care home to anyone

The Management Team were amazing in assessing my dear friend and neighbour on admission into Begbrook House Care home and went over and above in their care and duty including coming out to her home to do the necessary Covid tests which were normally only carried out on site.

Please I know first hand it's so under staffed and management are not doing anything to help with the great care clients need. They just don't care. I even had had to beg to be able to give appropriate mouth care for passing residents. Please these are such loving residents don't let ur family member be another one that goes into this poorly treated but also well hidden place.

Short staffed no one answering phones not attending residents inter on bells and ants nest in room. Quite a few issues with this care home but staff which are present for work hard they are just so understaffed. Pretty disgraceful since residents pay hundreds of pounds in private top ups.

Understaffed very pongy due to no air conditioning or air movement in building and constant change of management we moved our dad to another more modern care home in Bristol. Only reason I have given 2 and not 1 star is that Helen Morgan, Georgie and the few nurses were really helpful and gave him a lot of support and bought a few pairs of socks in when dads socks went missing (a huge sock drawer vanished within a few weeks) - I think she has been given a huge task to turn the facility around hopefully she can do it.Issues such as ants in the room, no technology to detect if resident falls . (i found him on his back in his room he had been there for a while with head up against the door frame in a very compromising postion) Also toe nails not being clipped enough - seemed to be a lack of urgency with chiropodist appointments the nails were terribly long.As it's a private home and not council run at £900 a week it's very poor value for money, check out barchester grange in cheswick village as a comparison it's more expensive but if you can prove 2 years of funding go for the upgrade.

Avoid at all cost as it is poorly managed. They are extremely understaffed and are always calling people in from there days off. The training that they give most of there staff is basic at best. So leaves the staff overworked and under qualified for their roles.They don't seem to have any CCTV protecting the members and staff. So if complaints pop up they tend to fire staff and get new ones in. Somebody that have just started working there can easily get some one fired if they dislike them.They don't even have plans for CCTV even tho a random man has attempted to enter at night scaring the staff out of there wits. No security team in place so was 2 ladies to care and protect 4 wards................................................................I have written this review from the view point of more than one member of staff that are no longer there.

Wouldn't even give it one star. Its very badly led care home, with no manager present most of the time. Staff don't have access to important documentation and there is not enough staff to care for residents properly.

Begbrook, once ran by brighterkind, was an exceptional care home with a very supportive management team. All carers worked together to provide the best care possible. Now, begbrook is ran by barchester healthcare. The management team offer no support to head of departments/team members. Staff are frightened to voice their opinions as you are sacked straight off. It’s definitely not the same care home I walked into at first. Procedures are definitely not followed with this new management team in place.

My mum was at begbrook for 3 years and she was very happy. such exceptional care which won’t be gone unnoticed and lovely friendly staff who made mums final weeks as comfortable and compassionate as possible and that we can only be grateful for..

I have visited Begbrook House many times and continue to do so.The staff at the home are Fantastic and couldn’t be more helpful! I would highly recommend this home for all.
