The crooked door is one of the most famous places in Canterbury. The building began to lean in the 19th century because they removed the emergency stairs. Later, it had been consolidated and inserted a steel frame into the house.

Quirky bookshop in an even more quirky building. The front door gives an indication. Housed on several floors.

So many fabulous and interesting books to browse through and buy (in cash) with monies going to a worthy cause. Amazing building that has to be experienced!

Staffed by friendly volunteers, you will find some of your favorite long lost books and discover plenty of great new ones, all at amazingly low prices! A perfect place for a quick visit and snap a photo of the door, or for a leisurely afternoon browse through the books fitting perfectly in this historic building. Recommended to tourists, students looking for very low cost entertainment, and locals alike. I visit regularly to see what new gems have come in and always walk out with an armload of books for just a few pounds.

What a cute and quaint bookstore! I enjoy browsing the different floors to see all the items on display. I managed to find several books of interest, and the prices are all very affordable. Best of all, by shopping here you can help give back to charity. I highly recommend coming here as there are plenty of classic and contemporary gems to explore :)

A character filled landmark feature of Canterbury. It's amazing that a build of such an ancient age is still in use to this day. The selection of books it sells are wide and varied, so everyones tastes are matched. However, be aware that books of all quality are hosted in the shop, so you'll have to dig through to find something really good. The volunteers are friendly and enthusiastic and they really breath life into the olden timbers. All the money raised is donated to the Catching Lives charity so you know when you buy your money is going to go a good cause.Highly Recommend and worth a visit.

I normally order books online because of convenience but for this bookshop I’d rather visit it in person. The history behind this building and the way it’s presented gives the bookshop a unique character.
