The Cosener's House

Bed was comfortable, mould in shower. Outdated, carpets need cleaning stains everywhere.Went for food, the food was terrible. Trying to make things look fancy doesn’t work, venison meatballs didn’t taste like venison nor were they called venison meatballs on the menu. It came with instant mash potato and oily vegetables.The breakfast was below average something you would expect in a premier inn. 2 people in the dinner hall and 4 people at the breakfast who were also complaining about quality of food and hotel rooms. Also our starters was literally 4 frozen shrimp with puréed peas and 0 seasoning.

Great price, stunning grounds and building. Very friendly staff. My room was very basic but there are much nicer available. Easily walkable to wherever you want to go in town.

Cosener's was the perfect place for my wedding. All the staff were brilliant every step of the way, especially on the day itself, and allowed us to really enjoy it. The food was delicious, the rooms were comfy, and the grounds were beautiful in the sunshine.

We had a very good stay here and a good price for two rooms. Very clean with beautiful views.Breakfast was good with a wide choice, would have liked it if breakfast was available from 0730 on Saturday but 0800 was OK but left us with not a lot of time for our appointment, not the hotels issue but would gave made for an easier day. Nice place well placed in town for pubs and walks.

Pros:Great location with beautiful views from your hotel room. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasty breakfast and great service.Cons:Room was a bit dated. We feel like there is a room for improvement in regards to cleanliness. As per photos attached.

We had our wedding at Coseners, and the staff were so helpful and supportive, going above and beyond to make our day so special. The grounds are beautiful looking out onto the river, the food was lovely, and the rooms are also very nice, as well as it being a perfect location right in the centre of Abingdon. We had a wonderful day, and could not be happier.

I have recently had afternoon tea here with work colleagues. It was absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was lovely and fresh. Well worth the money.

The room I had was very small and basic. I arrived late but there was no chance of food except a bag of crisps and a pint. The bar was empty. The bathroom had a sign on the door advising to keep the door closed when showering so as not to set the fire alarm off. One of the residents didn't read this and we had a very early fire alarm. It had the feeling of being in a university halls of residence.

Nice old moated hotel with main building and some rooms in outhouses. Limited parking within grounds. Large Thames-side garden with tables and seating. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Buffet breakfast could have been better. Evening meal expensive but nice enough. WiFi in room (stable block) was non-existent.
