Great place with good food. It's not exactly on the Offa's Dyke Path (which we were walking), but there isn't anything exactly on the path at this stage. Just be prepared for the slog up the hill the next day. Totally would recommend or stay again.

A really lovely pub. We called after a walk to Hay Bluff. A really friendly and busy pub. We only had drinks but could see other customers eating and the food looked very appetising.

Went in for food during our hiking trip with our dog. Asked if we were in the appropriate place as they had restrictions on where dogs can go which was completely understandable. Gentleman behind the bar did come across as disinterested and frosty when asking if we were able to get food and pointed at table next to the bar advising we could sit there. Private party going on in other room. Just after ordering food, people were flooding in to attend private party and coming out of there to bar and then suddenly took over the room. We politely put dog under the table as she was drowned in party go-ers and was at risk of being trampled on. Whilst waiting for our food, we couldn’t hear each other talk despite practically sitting on each others laps and there was no room for movement as more people came in. Food came out and then people from the party took it upon themselves to join our table whilst we ate which we thought was quite rude. We really wanted dessert but just after table was cleared, one of our new table friends smashed a glass by accident and kicked the shards under the table with the dog. Decided due to uncomfortable atmosphere to try to pay and leave. Husband was trying to pay at bar but other locals were trying to push in and over talk his conversation with other friendly young lad who was trying to serve him. ‘Glass smasher’ in this time made his way to the bar and told bar staff about smashed glass but nothing was done about it. A child then made their way across the room to charge their phone next to our table and as our dog was removed from under the table to prevent accident with glass, was subsequently kicked out of the way by child. Tried to leave but the room was so full that there was no clear path so had to push through crowd whilst carrying dog (who isn’t small) out. Really overwhelming atmosphere for someone with social anxiety. Food was lovely, but spoilt by atmosphere so left feeling disappointed with a head ache. Everything would have been really good had party been kept under control and other guests had been considered in mean time. The lady serving behind the bar on arrival was very lovely however!

Just went for an evening's quizzing and enjoyed it immensely as usual. The hosts and staff are so pleasant and friendly and there is a really good atmosphere. Great chips, too! An excellent local pub. Wish we lived a bit nearer!

Lovely pub with lovely staff. They accommodated 24 walkers for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night, with all food brought out promptly with great service. Thanks!
