Inlight Glass Fusion - Hove

Having returned home after a 5 hour round trip, some feedback for Inlight. I booked my course some months ago and at the time of booking I was not asked any questions about my skills with glass. After arriving on time today I met Chantal who was amiable and made me a cup of tea. She told me we were waiting for 3 more ladies to join us. She asked me if I had worked with glass before and I told her that I did fused glass. She retorted, “What are you doing here then” I told her that my wife had bought me the workshop as a present from Groupon and that I wanted to learn new techniques of glass making. She told me that this was a beginners class and not for people who could fuse glass. As an afterthought she said, “Maybe I had better put that in the information” . She told me that the workshop was not for me and I would be wasting my time. Having travelled for over two hours I told her that I would probably learn something and that I was particularly interested in learning finer techniques and particularly liked her pictures of the poppies and would like to learn how to do them. She told me that those designs were hers and I would have to make my own poppies. She told me that she had been doing this for 18 years and she did not want people copying her work. I had no intention of plagerising her work, I had just hoped to learn some new skills. She said that if I go online I can learn how to do them. After about ten minutes the other people had still not arrived and Chantal told me that if they did not arrive in five minutes she would cancel the workshop and could not possibly do a workshop with only one person. She had also told me that she would not tell me where she got her supplies from (I had not asked her). (I know where to get the supplies). I was quite relieved when after 5 minutes had past and the other people had not turned up as I was not sure how the next three hours was going to go. I imagine very condescending and very uncomfortable. I told her I was going to go and she asked me if I wanted to reschedule my workshop and she told me she only makes £15 per person by doing the Groupon. I told her I didn’t know when I could do it again but after the way she made me feel I have no intention of returning. I have been on a number of glass making courses and have never had this sort of response, in fact other glass artists have been more than willing to show me their techniques and share where they get their supplies from. Tips for people going to Inlight. 1. Don’t go if you know how to fuse glass. 2. If you are going on your own, chance being turned away if other people don’t turn up.

Excellent session, fabulous teacher very passionate about her skills. Well taught and directed. Looking forward to the finished product.

Do one of the workshops! You won't regret the hours of creativity.

I had a great time and have done something new.The lady teaching was very nice and explained everything that happens to the glass when fired.Looking forward to going back to pick up my finished piece.

Had an amazing time doing a glass plate infusion course, can not wait to collect the end result and to book future courses. Chantal is a great teacher and it was lovely learning something new. Highly recommend this as a different kind of date day or even just something different to do with friends or family

Came along for a workshop. Easy to find, Chantal very knowledgeable, engaging and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable.Looking forward to picking up our creations one they are ready.

A great beginner's class. We had a lot of fun and it was really interesting to learn new techniques. Chantal encouraged us to be creative and was very supportive throughout the process. Would definitely recommend the class.

I cannot recommend this workshop enough, it was thoroughly enjoyable and absorbing. I bought it as a mothers day gift and it was such a lovely thing to do together and have something to take home and remember it by. Chantal was great at explaining the process in a simple, understandable way, was very knowledgeable and had great tips.We will definately be returning.
