St Gregory's Minster : Kirkdale
It is well worth visiting St Gregory's Minster, a Grade I Anglo-Saxon listed building in Kirkdale near Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, UK.It has a rare sundial, in Built in c. 1060, and is dedicated to pope St Gregory from 590-604.The church is still active and there are beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside.

A special, historic little building set in a wonderful location. Well worth a visit. Check out the Celtic carved masonry used in its construction.

A fantastic setting with some great places for budding adventurers to explore nearby ...this Anglo-Saxon church dates back to 1060...and there was a wooden church on the site before and prior to that a stone circle one of the stones can be seen adjacent to the West tower. It also contains a very large Anglo-Saxon sundial which is above the main door entrance. There are a lot of unusual markings and historical artefacts to be found both in and outside of the church. A couple of 100m away from the church if you follow the main road you might come across some caves

Smallest minster in the UK apparently. We were given a warm welcome on our first random visit, and came back to hear choral evensong on Sunday. We're atheists but found it welcoming and uplifting.

Not worth the trouble getting there (through one-lane roads most of the way). I've seen much more beautiful country churches in other places.

We couldn't see the inside as the church was closed when we got there. But the outside structure was very different from any other churches I've seen before!

Lovely church with an interesting history particularly relating to the sundial inscription above the door. Close to the Kirkdale Cave and useful stopping point on an excellent circular walk from Nawton up to Hold Cauldron and beyond.

This late saxon church is well worth seeking out there is plenty of parking which highlights that this is a popular and sought out church. There is a late saxon sundial above the porch and a couple of 8th century coffin covers. Def worth a stop
