I shop there everyday and have very rarely had any issues with the self-service checkout or any other aspect of the store. Occasionally items will be out of stock in the front of the store during peak-hours, but there's always a member of staff nearby that's happy to help. It's true that this store is slightly more expensive than larger supermarkets but that can hardly come as a surprise. This is a convenience store with long opening hours so naturally the markup will reflect that. That being said, it's by far the most neat and spacious of similar stores in the area.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was victim of a clear case of discrimination at Sainsbury's on Leith walk. I went there this morning and was terribly served by an old lady that did not want to serve me at the checkout. That lady told me to go to the self checkout. I said that I wanted to be served by a person because I do not get paid for being a cashier. She answer mocking at me: you see this barcode?? Scan it here and then pay.I do not have to be served or spoken to like that. I have rights and she also said that the checkouts are for old people o someone who wants tobacco. I wanted to speak to the manager and while I waited I saw her serving young people that did not buy tobacco as well as 2 other cashiers. One sales assistant came to me and I asked again for the manager, he left and one woman came and brought me a blank piece of paper when I asked for a formal complain form. She said the manager was off and did not have a formal complain form. If I used that blank piece of paper she would have probably bin it as soon as I left the shop. I deserve the same treatment as everyone else and I will complain every time I see something unfair like this.I feel disappointed and disgusted for this situation I had to deal with and I will tell everyone how people are served in that shop. You talk about inclusion, rights for foreigners or other minorities and that is not true. Minorities are treated with disrespect there very quickly. I give you one star but I would like to give 0 stars for people that bully customers. No wonder Lidl have more customers or even Iceland are taking your customers as well. Kind regards.

I've been shopping here since the fist day it opened, I've noticed the how friendly the staff are? NOT!! the security guard spend more time on his phone than looking out for potential thievery. ..the blond female manager has no consideration for her customers. And they have a sewage problem with in the shop. When I asked why ..I was abruptly answered with ..NOT MY PROBLEM....this shop should have an overhaul of new staff and some of the management should be retrained in customer service!..I live directly opposite this store and I see the decline of customers on a daily basis...may it continue ...!!

Apparently it's impossible to get sour cream dip in any shop on Leith walk. These small express shops are pointless.

Surprising well stocked with great variety. Staff are mostly friendly and helpful. There is an area where hot pizzas are made on request (takes 10-15 minutes) however there isn’t usually someone there, so somewhat inconsistent, but the pizza isn’t bad. A bakery section offers tons of food to go and bread for home. A small but relatively well stocked sandwich section is great for grabbing lunch. The only annoyance is that the self-service scanners don’t always work so well, and a few are almost always out of service. I also can never get my nectar card on my phone to scan, which is frustrating. Sometimes the staff don’t stand waiting at the tills so you’re forced to hunt them down or use the self-service.

The store obviously provides for single people, but the black security guard is anything but subtle, when I walk past and he's outside having a ciggy, eyes popping out and coming across totally like a creep! Although being on my doorstep, that's why I choose not to shop there!

Very specific issue here but for some reason there is a deafening alarm that sounds whenever you pick up any of the steaks from the fridge. So if you want to look at them before buying, you will deafen everyone around you before you find a decent one. Ended up going to Tesco because of this obnoxious system.. otherwise it’s ok!
