I Didn't actually go inside only walked past to get to Tesco's but from the outside it looks like a place of interest.

Although both the Guildhall and the nearby St. Andrew’s Church had both been badly bombed in the war, the Guildhall was remodelled and redeveloped in a particularly 1950s style rather than being faithfully restored like St. Andrew’s. Designed by the new City Architect Hector Stirling, the Guildhall had its entrance relocated to face the new civic square. Inside, one of the best interiors of the 1950s was created. Marble, terrazzo, bronze, leather, and mahogany abounded, and a stunningly patterned ceiling was created. The undulating entrance canopy shape can be found echoed in the Pannier Market design, as can further artworks by David Weeks who created ‘The Labours of Hercules’ sculptures mounted on the Guildhall ceiling.

It's a sizeable venue with a handy, central location. Depends on what's happening there.

Here for the SW Philharmonia Choir and Orchestra, who are a good as ever. However, my visit was rather marred by the amount of people (who admitted themselves they had no disabilities) who were in the queue for the disabled toilet! For some of us who struggle to walk and even stand, this was pretty disgusting to see. Thankfully there is a lift to both the first floor (main room) and balcony, where my seat was. Unfortunately, there was no signage at all in the lift to know that the balcony was on the second floor. This meant getting out on the first, realising it was the wrong floor but making my raffle etc purchases there across the room before walking back across the long lobby to get the lift to the second floor. Ah, no signage and no seeming access to the balcony, just different rooms that appeared to be locked, one even with a chain and padlock! Back down in the lift, across the lobby again. Up all the stairs to the balcony, down the stairs to the front row seat, up a few songs later because the complete and utter lack of any legroom whatsoever meant my arthritic knees were in so much pain I was nearly in tears. At least they would match the face full of sweat from running" around the building just trying to find the seat in the first place! Then the embarrassment of disturbing everyone to leave that seat and then also of walking back up the balcony steps to reach the very height of the gods

Plymouth Guildhall is a historic and versatile events venue located in the heart of Plymouth, England. The building, which dates back to the 19th century, has been beautifully restored. The main hall is particularly impressive, with high ceilings and ornate architecture. It can accommodate up to 600 people. There are also several smaller rooms available for more intimate gatherings. One of the best things about Plymouth Guildhall is its central location. It is within easy walking distance of the city's main shopping and dining areas, as well as public transport links. The staff at Plymouth Guildhall are highly professional and attentive. The only limitation I felt is that the toilet and wash room facilities are not baby friendly. In summary, Plymouth Guildhall is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a historic and elegant events venue in Plymouth. With its range of spaces, central location, and professional staff, it is sure to impress your guests and make your event a success.
