The centre of Folk Festival universe - if you don't count Whitby, or Bromyard or ...Very friendly vibe, plenty of history and the luxury of a safe beach.

Terrific views to east and west. An interesting local shopping precinct just off the front promenade. Lots of picturesque hotels adorn the town. Jacobs Ladder to the west beyond Connaught Gardens.

Wonderful place. Great cliffs. There is a secluded beach worth doing hike.

Pebble beach, but wide variety of interesting types and colours of pebble. When the tide is high (rocks on sea bed) the water is crystal clear - great for snorkeling (or swimming with goggles looking under the water). When tide is low, the sand clouds the waters. There are banks of huge bolders that the kids like climbing on.Lots of restaurants, cafés, ice-cream and doughnut shops as well as sea sport and souvenir shops. Some great hotels too.

Lovely walk along the promenade and climb jacob's ladder to the cliff top gardens. Great views and plenty of choice of where to have coffee or something stronger
