Hired a car for a week in the summer and it was brilliant - friendly and fast service! Brilliant. Will definitely use again in future! Thank you!

I have hired cars from Osborn repeatedly and over many years. I have not been disappointed. The drop off and pick up service is something that is costly with other car hire businesses. But something that is not taken forgranted with Osborn cars, also flexibility too. I will continue to use them as I have not had an issue. Even with last minute bookings. I will continue to use them.

Hired a car for two months which came in bad condition/ and various scratches all over (2010 plate). On collection of the car the company claimed there were a lot of new scratches and cosmetic damages to the car that were not previously there, and how the previous Owner had damaged the car and they dons a paint job before renting it out to myself. had a discussion with management who said they would send pictures of the car just before it was rented to me, this never happened and consequently took 400 pounds from my account without any further discussion despite what was discussed over the phone

My son in law and myself both hired cars recently when visiting the UK. It was a great service with delivery and pick up included in the price. The cars were both older cars but suited our needs and got us from A to B. Much more reasonable than hiring new cars. Staff were very helpful and informative. I would certainly book with them again.

I don’t normally post reviews but felt I needed to. The price was very reasonable so arguably I guess what I got could have been expected. The vehicle arrived later than agreed. Something to do with the vehicle being collected from Southminster and there was accident on A12 and the car needed to be cleaned before being dropped to me. I mentioned that you don’t need to use the A12 to get from Southminster to get to Chelmsford.The Ford Focus arrived filthy on the outside. It had been cleaned on the inside but didn’t smell clean. The car inside was very worn out inside and the seat belts were frayed. I had to wash the windows down back and front before we set off.It was an extremely hot day. Car was packed to the rafters with our young children. We got going and we realised the Air Con wasn’t working.When the car was collected they explained that “yeah some of the cars need the air conditioning sorted” !! Pity that wasn’t mentioned before the car was handed over.Liked i said very reasonable price but overall disappointing.

Given my recent disappointing experience with national rental companies, I decided to look more locally and found Osborn's of Chelmsford.I wasn't sure whether to award 4 or 5 stars, but considering they did everything I needed, the pick-up/drop-off went without hitch, the car was fine, and the contact was courteous, I decided to go with 5.The car had a few years on it, but I'm not concerned about that provided it is in reasonable condition and reliable; which it was.So I wish Osborn's well and shall hopefully hire with them again in the future.I guess the only constant negative is the closure from Saturday midday until Monday am, so weekend flights might be a challenge. For me, I arranged for a drop-off near the bus station and just took the shuttle to Stansted.

Rented a Ford Focus for 2 weeks.They delivered promptly, car was fine, and Molly went over and above in customer service being flexible when I had to change return times. Great value and excellent customer service.

Very old car...additional money removed from my account without notification or justification. Don't touch this company. I received no ULEZ fine. It starts at the end of August. This was July!! If the car was not so old it would have passed ULEZ anyway. They first said they would not pick up the car on Saturday so would charge me for Saturday and Sunday because they do not work those days. Only when I said I would get it back by Saturday did they agree but it had to be by 0900. Not a good customer service at all. Cheap but nasty. Check other 1 star reviews

Had read the reviews and chose to support a small family business. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel my car hire. It does say clearly on their website they operate a no cancellations policy. However, they managed to rebook the vehicle straight away. They were not prepared to give me any money back. Yes, it is their policy but they showed no compassion or understanding. Not what I expected based on other reviews. They are happy to make double the money on the car, taking all of my money for nothing. Not the sort of people I want to do business with and I urge anyone to think twice before using this company. I will not be using again or recommending to anyone.Edit: after 2 arguments on the phone they gave in and reluctantly offered a credit. I still find the way they went about handling this situation unkind and not what I expected from a family run business.
