Alcombe House Hotel

This place is situated in Minehead and has a number of bedrooms. We visited as a large group. The house itself is spacious and well built. It has some really strong points to it. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pots pans cutlery etc. The dining area is also lovely with two dining tables and two high chairs. The lounge area was well presented with seating and a tv which had Netflix and other apps installed. The view from some of the upper floors was stunning. The house is close to a few main shops such as Tesco, Lidl which was handy when we needed anything and it was also five minutes from the beachfront and pier. Irons are provided but not in every room. There is ample parking for around 6/7 cars in the drive. However, we did have some issues when we stayed. As there is a tank of water which fills up this had an overflow pipe with was pouring out onto the roof outside the bedroom windows. This caused so much noise on a night which made it difficult to sleep if your bedroom was unlucky enough to be next to the roof the water was pouring on to. A couple of the carpets also had damp stains on them which indicated that water had been coming through the ceiling. We did call the owner to come and sort the issue out (the overflow pipe) and to be fair he did come and have a look around but had no other solution but to completely switch the water off. Obviously this would mean we would not be able to use the water or flush the toilets and so was not an ideal solution. The beds are double in most rooms and seem to be tiny which meant if there were two adults in them they would not be able to sleep comfortably. The infant cots provided also had mattresses in them that were too big for them and this meant the cover provided did not fit them either. No extra toiletries are provided (apart from a toilet roll for each bathroom) so be sure to bring your own extras. All in all an okay stay but I probably wouldn’t return to this specific hotel/house.

This was a beautiful place to stay.Loved it and will definitely go back there again.Close to minehead and Dunster village and beach. All walkable from the hotel. Rooms very comfortable.Would definitely recommend this place to stay.

The most comfortable bed i have slept in by a country mile!Immaculately presented hotel with a truly wonderful garden to enjoy too. The owner obviously takes great pride, and is passionate about the customers experience .Short walk to immenities, and the sea front.As a key worker, let down with a previous booking, the owner accomodated me without hesitation; thank you so much!Without a doubt, i will be staying here again, thoroughly thoroughly recommended!

Very clean, comfortable,and spacious suite. Breakfast and service excellent. Beautiful gardens a bonus. Highly recommend.

This was my second visit and I loved it just as much as the first time, beautiful room spotless and clean ,not doing breakfast was not inconvenient and the price reflects this ,the owner made us so welcome he was kind and took interest in how our day had gone but never intrusive, we will be back

We were late arriving but as I had called ahead this seemed not to be a problem. We arrived on our Harley Davidson which did not seem a problem as some places frown upon such things. We were met with a very friendly and warm response which made us feel very welcome. Lovely room. Lovely place to stay. The bed was amazing and the whole place was spotless. Will stay again. Many thanks. Oh love the pond.

Beautiful place. Very clean. Near local pub and around 20 minutes to the front. Hotelier is friendly and polite. Bed was firm but super comfortable. TV in our room was very small but bathroom was immaculate and lovely. Highly recommended.

Superb place to stay.. stayed in a large twin room and the bathroom was also on the large size...decor was very nice and was kept in the style of the building with lots of kwirky bits added...the Hoteliers were very helpful and served a lovely cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

It was alright to use as a base to tour beautiful surrounding area. Breakfast not included in price which makes B&B not in the true spirit of the thing. Breakfast was in my opinion expensive.
