Unite Students - The Bridge House
A fairly downmarket student accommodation in the centre of Edinburgh. Costs are high, quality of fittings is at best average. Student rooms are barely big enough to swing a cat in: small queen size bed against the wall small gap of perhaps 60cm to a desk. A sink and a wardrobe. Old carpet. Roller blind at the window, dull lighting throughout. Old tired and cramped kitchen with very limited storage space for 6 tenants in each flat. Pretty basic really in need of refurbishment.Reception not staffed on weekends.

do not recommend, weirdest experience, had a housemate named Remi, who would stay up till the early hours of the morning cooking a French delicacy of stewed vegetables sometimes referred to as 'ratatouille'. head office did not do anything about it, would give 0 stars if i could

Would give this place 0 stars. Rat infestation for weeks now and not sorted. Rats in our kitchen. DO NOT STAY HERE. Hotel stayers get your money back.

Just WOW ! Checked my daughter in yesterday for her year stay in Edinburgh , absolutely everything about this newly refurbished building is top class ,, spotlessly clean , brand new everything , communal areas , tv rooms , laundry room , 24 hr help on site if needed (an actual physical person not a number ) a welcome table of goodies the list goes on and on ,,,, however the real asset is the staff I cannot say how unbelievably fantastic they are , super friendly welcoming and beyond helpful , Carrie was just amazing with us she is the most professional helpful person ,, we were so comfortable leaving our daughter and felt very very safe in doing so ! I highly highly recommend booking your student accommodation here it’s phenomenal! No hesitation whatsoever !

The only bad decision that I have made since deciding to move to Edinburgh is choosing to stay at the Unite Student- Bridge House. Just after checking in in September(Remember we are international students who have just landed in a new country, in a new city) we were told that we would be moved to a hotel next month during which the common room will be constructed and completed. Guess what, we are back after a month and there's barely any progress done. We have to live here through noise, dust, access restriction - all this during a crucial time when we are working on our assignments but we compromise. Once that's done, we are told that our block is going to be refurbished floor by floor. I live on the 4th floor which means I have to live through all this non sense all over again month after month while I am working on my assignments. Once third floor is completed, we are asked to move down to third floor so that the fourth could be completed. So now from noise and dust occurring underneath me, it goes onto constant drilling and breaking and hammering above my head 5 days a week from 8am onwards. Let me tell you this, we are working on our dissertation during this time, a dissertation that needs us to write 15000 words and on what our entire degree depends massively on - the whole reason why we are here. But that's not the end of it, the day we move in, we realise that the Wifi in the entire flat is not working. They took two months to fix it and its August 25th and it still stops working at times. We have endured all this and compromised with the authorities without creating any trouble. Today when I go to request them to allow me to a stay over the weekend because hotels don't have any room until the 28th and I have no place to be- what do they tell me? That it was mentioned on the contract that I need to check out at 10am sharp on the 26th. To that my question was - where in the contract was it mentioned that Unite was going to use our entire length of stay to make all the refurbishment that they wanted to and they did not have an answer to that. I would recommend that you never make the same mistake I did that is associate yourself with Unite as these refurbishments will definitely occur in some form or the other at this location or elsewhere because all they care about is money and they barely care about students or their welfare.

My daughter lived here 2020-2021, good value clean accommodation, in a good area of Edinburgh. Carrie and the Unite staff were brilliant, very friendly and always happy to help. Any maintenance required in the flat was rapidly sorted.

I lived here for a year from 2018-19. I had some pretty horrible flatmates which was unfortunate, constantly leaving the kitchen and bathroom in a mess. The rooms are great, furniture is old but its always comfy. They had a lot of work going on in the rooms when I stayed there which was annoying because they had to invade our space to carry this out which is hard when you're trying to do uni work. However, the staff there are absolute gems. They were so friendly and helpful it was a pleasure interacting with them whenever I did. I would recommend staying here if you can deal with some messy flatmates.

Plain and overall clean facilities, typical student rooms. Although we spoke to the staff (poor guy only earning the complaints, but very nice), there was no hot water in the accomodation, followed by a poor apology, that using the other floors was not possible". The student's rooms smell like non showered students

I didn’t have a very good experience with unite students this year. The accommodation facilities were good, however there was a lack of privacy. My flat was chosen for viewings and we did not have a say on this. This meant that for half of my stay people were allowed to enter our flat without any notice even when we asked for it. A new flatmate also moved into our flat towards the end of our year, however this was not communicated to us.
